Shock Blocker was designed to prevent young children from inserting objects (such as keys, paperclips, hair pins, bobby pins, silverware, etc.) into an electrical outlet. Shock Blocker, has a shutter interlocking mechanism that covers both the line voltage and neutral slots of the outlet. Shock Blocker does not have any metal parts or pieces that could dislodge and become a conductor of electricity increasing the possibility of harming your child. If a young child attempts to insert an object in either one of the slots the mechanism remains in a lock and blocked position not allowing access to either slot. Only when both slots are depressed simultaneously will the mechanism unlock and allow access, as when an electrical plug is inserted. When the plug is removed that mechanism springs (non-metal design) back to the closed and lock position.
