Perfect for converting HDMI signal from Roku to a VGA monitor!
This review is for HDMI To VGA, fitTek® HDMI Converter, VGA Adapter, HDMI to Vga Adapter, HDMI Vga Adapter , HDMI to VGA Converter with Audio I was in the hunt for something that will allow my Roku with only a HDMI output to an old 24" monitor to put in our spare exercise room - the monitor is still quite good and I really did not want to spend more money on another TV. Tried two other converters before this but neither worked properly until I found this one. I wasn't very hopeful but it was totally plug and play - I didn't even need the power cord - the monitor's vga cable plugged into the converter and the HDMI went to the Roku, and I took the 3.5" output straight to the speaker connection and that was it. Could not be simpler. The Roku does not display in the monitor's native resolution but I think its the Roku which is at fault - but it still looks good at a 720p output. And for the price this was excellent. Highly recommend this product.

This adapter works great. It seems to be well made and it has extra features (sound and charging) that other adapters don't, which is a nice bonus. Would recommend this to anyone who needs to be able to connect a newer computer (HDMI) to an older monitor (VGA).5/18/18 - Updating my previous 5 start review to a 3 star review. The product itself is great, everything I have said above still holds true, however, I wanted to post a warning to anyone else who may buy one of these: You may receive a note with your adapter (See pic) informing you they will send you a 2nd one for free in exchange for posting a review. Please know that they did not send me another one after reviewing the product. I understand that this "promotion is at the manufacturers discretion", and not guaranteed, but I'm honestly skeptical that they ever intend to make good on this offer to anyone. It just seems like a shady way to boost their reviews. -- So in summary, buy the adapter, use it , enjoy it, just don't waste your time writing a review for it unless you really feel strongly about its performance.

Basic adapter for Raspberry Pi. Gets the job done well.
I bought this adapter to connect a Raspberry Pi to the second input of the secondary monitor on my PC. The conversion to analog softens the look as opposed to a full digital interface, but I suppose that's to be expected. Overall, the color looks good, text is readable & video & images display well. I can't comment on how true the color palette is, as the monitor isn't calibrated in hardware. That said, I have the windows profile of that monitor connected via HDMI & calibrated in software & it looks much better, regarding both color & sharpness. I'm sure that is at least partially attributable to the Pi itself, & don't consider that a fair comparison. If Raspberian has a similar calibration feature, I'm unaware of it. I connected the optional micro USB power port to my main computer to supply power, as Raspberry Pi's aren't known for their robust power supplies, so I can't comment on how well this adapter works as a passive device. It displays 1080p without any issue & no noticeable input lag. The audio output of the adapter is connected to my desktop amplifier & works as expected. As a matter of disclosure, the manufacturer has offered to give me a second device in exchange for reviewing it. I have no need for a second one, but I may take them up on the offer since this is a useful device. If you look through my review history however, you'll note that I have absolutely no compunction about speaking my mind about bad products, & I wouldn't be interested in another one of these if it was junk, anyway. Overall, if you need to connect an HDMI device to an analog monitor, this does the trick. It's not as good as pure HDMI or DisplayPort, but we did switch over to digital for a reason. Overall highly recommended.

Fine... For 15 months.
Worked easily and well enough for 15 months (though after about six months I had to wrap tape around the unit as it kept popping open).Died slowly over about two weeks (would sometimes connect, sometimes not at all, sometimes with lots of picture issues), and then completely stopped working. I tried it with multiple laptops, and the monitor works fine with a different connector, so the issue is definitely the adapter.For the price, I guess I can't complain too much, but honestly, it's disappointingly short a lifespan.

adapter does not last - poor quality
I bought this adapter to link my second monitor to my laptop. My laptop only had 1 VGA port, being used by my main monitor, and HDMI ports. Since both of my monitors only had VGA cables, I needed an adapter. This adapter replaced another adapter I had that constantly caused my screen to "black out". Initially, this adapter worked, but did notice some occasional flickering and poorer resolution. After about 4 months, I would get the occasional "black out" flicker. To verify it wasn't my monitor, I switched my monitor hook-ups so my other monitor used the adapter. Then that monitor started having the "black out" issue and my other monitor was now fine. These did come in a 2 pack and I've also had "black out" flickering with the second adapter that is on another computer. These are cheap and can last a few months, but if you want something long term, I would look for another solution. Working constantly on 2 monitors, it becomes very distracting when the screen blacks out and you have to pause for a few seconds until it comes back. There are times it blacks out consistently, so I unplug my monitor and plug it back in and it will resolve it temporarily. But overall, it's very annoying.

UPDATED review Easy to set up,
I received an offer from this company to receive a free second unit if I reviewed their product. After sending them the link to the review, I waited for a very long time and no additional free unit ever arrived. I do not appreciate them inserting a card in their product packaging that offers a free unit for a review and then they do not honor that. Yes this products works. There are so many out there to choose from, nothing makes this one any better than the others. This is what I needed to hook an additional monitor up to my docking station at work. I need three monitors and only had an HDMI port available on my docking station but the monitor I needed to hook up did not have an HDMI port.
