XBOOM Mini Portable Capsule Speaker with Rechargeable Battery and Enhanced Bass+ Resonator - Yellow

I ordered this speaker in April 2016. It's been about 3 years since I've had it. The sound is adequate for a small speaker but the connection for the cable is going bad-it doesn't stay in. I have been careful when inserting cable.

Other than the fact that the speaker isn't all that much louder than the built in speakers in the tablets that people in my household use it with, my other main issue with it is that the cord that connects it to whatever electronic device you are using is too short for you to prop up your device and have the speaker be able to sit on its base.

I have been looking for a really good speaker for my MP3 players, to use at work, for over a year now. The old one I have just was not loud enough to hear well in a loud working environment (busy restaurant). I checked here on Amazon and read numerous reviews about this little guy (and I mean little), and decided to give it a try. I am very glad I chose this one! The XBOOM is great. It has a diameter equivalent to a Red Bull drink can and compacts down to just 2 inches high (extended it is about 4 inches high). The body is made of high strength ABS plastic (the first thing I did when I got it home was drop it on the floor without a scratch). It comes with a fabric carry pouch large enough to fit it and my 2 MP3 players, a USB dual cord (to charge it and/or a MP3 player w/mini jack via a computer or wall plug), and a mini jack coupler for connecting multiple XBOOMs together. The XBOOM manual says it takes 2 hours to fully charge for a 12 hour play time (a blue light on the bottom front of the unit lights up when fully charged), however, I have used this thing for up to 10 hours straight and have only had to charge it for about 1.25 hours. It has a manual on/off switch (not shown in picture), mini-USB port, 3 inch long mini-jack plug with recessed storage at the bottom of the unit, and a manual volume wheel (shown @ bottom right in photo). The manual says that the unit has a max volume of 80Db, however, my old speaker had the same max volume and this is much louder. I have used this outside on my porch and have still been able to hear a good volume while working in the yard, 35 feet from the unit. It is pretty easy to compact and lock closed/open. The sound is great, and is far superior to the fidelity of my old mini-dual speaker. I have yet to find a single thing that I do not like about this speaker, and for the price ($18), I honestly don't think I could do any better than the XBOOM. If I end up buying another XBOOM, I think I will try the ceramic speaker model just to compare the two types. I would highly recommend this speaker to anyone.

I bought this produce on March 28, 2015. The price was right. Everything works fine until today! The music was playing and suddenly it just died. I'm trying to charge it up but it won't take the charge. I can't believe it only last 4 months - bear in mind, I used, maybe, at the most, 5x per month for about 3 hours each time. What a huge disappointment! considering the number of positive reviews outweighed the negatives reviews when I was considering buying this product.

I liked it, it gave surprisingly good sound for the size, and the portability is unheard of. My one problem is, the more and more I closed it, the more the middle part expanded less and I couldn't get that great of bass naymore because it expands about 1/4 as much as when I got it. It still sounds great, but I'd like to hear that bass it had when I first got it.

This items were purchased by my kids with my permission. It's small and portable but their complaints is it's not loud enough. That's about all I can say about this item.

Smaller than I expected... Not as loud as expected... Some songs it does great with... Some are too much for this racquetball sized thing to deal with at full volume.

I ordered the yellow b/c I wanted to make a statement. It looks really cool! Kind of reminds me of a dragon ball when its closed. Sound is wonderful quality. It is better at reproducing vocals since it is geared towards giving a lot of bass. It sounds better indoors b/c sound escapes outside, but I bought it to use on my deck for parties and while grilling and was happy with the ambiance it can create (loud enough to be intrusive during conversation within several feet, but has nice volume dial that will let you adjust with ease). Has nice little exras with it, such as a water resistant pouch and 2 cables (one for charging via usb, and a standard 3.5mm jack that allows a little extra length beyond what attached jack--only about 2 inches long-- provides). Fits in pocket to go anywhere! I use it with my 2nd gen ipod. It is also much more affordable and more durable than anything that Wal Mart stocks. Get one!
