Keeping Fit in Your 50s: Flexibility

My Most Valuable HEALTH DVD
PROS: * This DVD covers all you need to know about your body to keep it limber and strong. About the only thing this DVD does not cover in detail, if I remember correctly, is nutrition. * I was first introduced to this DVD in 2009 while talking ills with a fellow hiker and complaining about neck /side pain (Not the heart attack type) He recommended this book. His claim was that this DVD specifically chapter 5 CORE: Routine Stretching sequence would fix my neck problem as he had a similar one that was fixed by using the exercises and stretches in this video. Also if I wanted to continue till chapter 8 and skip the rest. A magic cure, I was all for it. Well the stretch routine is great. My pain did go away, and every time I'm feeling aches and pains or loss of mobility I go back to this DVD for guidance. I have since purchased one more copy for a girlfriend as I wasn't giving up mine. Just glad to see that this DVD is still available.CONS: None. Well OKAY if for your first time you try to do the entire DVD all in one workout you may DIE. Take it easy. Stretching is fine. Exercising: well for that I'd recommend working up gradually.Yes I've bought this again, and have recommend it to friends and now YOU TOO.If you have any questions leave them below and I'll do my best to answer or find you someone that can. Thank you.

A Model & A Jock Doing Yoga . . . .
These are not your average fiftysomethings. One is a model with an obvious facelift, the other is a cyclist who keeps opening her eyes very wide as if she's having shock treatments. Both are in phenomenal shape, and both talk as if they're speaking to retarded children. (I'm fifty-five, I am not stupid!)The video begins with a lot of "tips." Things most people know at fifteen and probably have taught by fifty. For example, we get a nice shot of what a calf is. (Body part, not farm animal.) We're told that if a stretch is too difficult, we should back off. Duh. (Again, I'm aging, not stupid.)The stretching is basic Iyengar Yoga. That would be fine if (1) it were very simple Yoga for those of us with arthritis and other problems and, (2) if detailed information about how to do each posture properly was given. It isn't.Just as the viewer has decided to be spoken down to and has gotten into the stretching (Yoga), the two women on the tape decide to give us a taste of Pilates, and then what they actually call Yoga, which is what we've been doing for an hour already. ???Although the stretching and other work is all right, the women thankfully aren't twelve and bubbly, and the music is only repetitive enough to peel the enamel off one's teeth, I'm not happy with this video. I do a lot better with Rita Moreno's "Now You Can!" and the Living Arts Yoga series.

Very well thought out and executed.
Finally a stretch DVD that I can do and enjoy! I really am healing my hips and ham strings (spends a lot of time on these, best stretches I've ever done). It's very long, slow and detailed but I like it that way. You can pick and choose a segment if time is short. The only thing that bothers me is the comments during the DVD, ex: "Oh, this really feels good, I can really feel that". It's OK the first few times you watch but to hear them over and over is a bit tiring. I guess they didn't realise this when recording that people will be watching this over and over again. I just can't do exercise on my own. Maybe other people can.

I love you ladies
I love you ladies. Thanks so much. I do your routine everyday and I feels so limber. I am just about ready to increase my level of exorcise. I can do more because i am more limber than I was before. I so so so appreciate your time and expertise. Before I could not do other exercise and I thought they were hard but until I became limber through your program, their exercises are not as difficult as I once thought. GET LIMBER FOLKS throught flexibility. That is the key ! PS. I am 57 years old.

I love the flexibility routine
I had this on VHS tape for many years but the tape broke recently. I love the flexibility routine! I ordered it on DVD so I can take it with me when I travel and watch it on the laptop. There are three routines in my VHS package but I only use the flexibility. I was happy to see they could be ordered separately.

Very creative combo of stretches
I checked this out of the library to try it out, and I think it's wonderful. I ordered my own copy just now, along with the companion "strength" DVD. I've done a lot of yoga - I'm not very advanced, but I've been doing yoga for many years. This DVD showed me effective, relaxing stretches that I haven't seen elsewhere -- especially for the hips. I thought the introductions to yoga and Pilates were smart and gentle. This is a very good program for someone like me who's trying to get back into a regular routine as I'm finding a little more time for myself.

Highly recommend
LOVE this DVD. I bought my first copy 3 years ago for my home in Seattle and it's the best stretching routine ever! So, I bought the 2nd copy for my vacay home in Bend, Oregon. I've used it at least 3 times a week for the years I've had it. Highly recommend

Achieving fitness
I needed something to keep my fitness routine going when I was unable to get to the gym which was happening too frequently. Keeping fit in your 50's was just what I was searching for. Great selection of exercises taught at a very comfortable pace.

My wife loves these exercise videos, because they are straightforward, pleasantly presented and beneficial when used regularly. The presentation is happy and effective, and supported with music.
