I already had a carrier for my cat that worked well enough, a duffel-like black bag with a shoulder strap. But when I took Newt on a flight with me a few months ago, that bag proved to be a big pain for us both - even though there was a firm insert for the bottom of the carrier, my cat's 8 pound body was bending the liner. Newt sagged down and the sides crept in on her, which she tolerated but many cats might not have. More importantly, the weight distribution became very awkward and difficult to handle, which is the last thing you want for a bag you have to lug around airports.So with another flight coming up, I splurged on this backpack and promised myself that if there was a single thing I didn't like about it, I'd return it. I'm happy to report that I kept this case, and ditched my old one too!As soon as I got this, I unwrapped it and placed it on the floor, reading tips on replacing the window. Newt ran over, sniffed this carrier, and immediately scratched the hell out of one of the mesh windows on the side. I was horrified at first, but it ended up being a very good thing! The mesh stayed perfectly intact and showed no sign of my cat's excited claiming scratches - it made me feel secure at the airport knowing that Newt wasn't going to be able to tear the mesh if she got bored in transit.The floor of this carrier is SOLID. Newt can relax a lot more when she can sit how she likes on her blanket instead of having to bend to the will of a flimsy bag. I could even hang her up on the hook in a bathroom stall without mushing her or making her uncomfortable. Sounds like a little thing, but if you're travelling solo with a pet every bit of convenience is exciting.My only problem with this bag is the sheer amount of attention it garners. It's cute as heck, and pretty hilarious, so I understand why it's a head turner! But I had so many people (students, children, parents, retirees...the full range) asking me questions, calling "kitty!", peering into the bag...all of the attention was positive, but at the end of the day I just wanted to turn off and get home. At least Newt didn't mind the extra fuss. :)This backpack is worth the money, and is a comfortable, fun, and easy way to transport your pet without sacrificing their security, safety, or comfort. Just make sure your pet is small enough to fit before you buy!

So far so good! It’s just the right size for my cat to comfortably sit, and lay down if she wants. She loves the bubble window and seems to feel safe and secure in there since she can see and even smell through it since it has the wholes.I also chose this one because the mesh on the lower sides is larger than the previous model. The mesh is very sturdy, whatever it is made out of. She only tried to claw it one time but it didn’t budge or anything.She is a fairly large cat, at about 10 pounds and her body is very long actually.It does have a smell to it when you first open the box so I set it up then let it sit for a couple days. That way it aired out and she could get used to it and all.When I first put her in there I put a coupe of treats for her to lure her in. Worked like a charm then I pushed in her tail then zipped her up!I set her on some pillows in the car ride and she seemed to enjoy seeing the outside through the window.It fits comfortably on my back and I was able to adjust it all the way ( as I’m short at 5 foot) and it fits perfect.It’s a great size, very convenient, and she is happy and content in her new carrier!

Just got this today--It took me a stupid amount of time to set up the bubble window, but if you follow the instructions on this page(somewhere in the questions FIND IT YOURSELF LIKE I HAD TO), then it's fine. After the embarrassing amount of struggling to get the lens in place, I got my cat inside and took her to the vet-She was going anyway, this just conveniently arrived right before I was going to take her--but this bag made it SO MUCH EASIER to take her little sister(also a cat) at the same time(I live in the city and don't have a car so taking trips with multiple cats is an EVENT okay)!This is a very sturdy, well made bag--my cat is 14.6 lbs, and in this carrier she felt like a tiny newborn babe(Sidebar--If you wear it in the front it's basically a baby bjorn for space pets). And super cute! I got a bunch of compliments at the vet office. It really distributes weight well.The only weird thing is the zipper on one side is a little finicky, and when I zipped it the first time, it wasn't attached to the other side so the bag didn't actually close. I fixed it by reseting the zipper pull and it was fine, it just seems kind of bizarre for that to be a issue when the sides aren't fully removable. I will update my review if that becomes a recurring problem/safety/escape issue, but for now this bag is awesome and I'm super happy with it :D

I purchased this bag to take my dog to the park on my bicycle. I am excited because it will work great in the car and I think it will be great for the airplane/airport too, although the pet fees keep going up :(.It arrived well packaged and quickly, and smelly, but the reviews prepared me to air it out. I looked at a smaller version, but liked how this one has more air circulation. My dog is a 2-year-old, 10-pound Italian Greyhound mix, and she seems to like the bag better than I expected! She can comfortably sit, lay down, and turn around. The pad included with the bag is nice, both windows were included, and a storage bag! It feels sturdy and well made, I feel like I've gotten my money's worth.Thank you to the previous reviewers, you really helped me make my decision. And while I was looking for the wonderful reviewer who posted directions to swap out the bubble, my teenager switched them out just like that, haha!
