Awesome stuff, except why can't Marvel publish these stories in the order they're meant to be read?
This review is for the saga enthusiast who enjoys reading their Marvel stories in a chronological order. I will leave the particulars of story itself and the art that accompanies it for other reviews. I mainly want to address here that while Marvel provides all the relevant comics pertaining to War of Kings in this omnibus (which is convenient and worthy of the price), a good chunk of the stories are presented out of the order in which the events transpire. And why? Why can't Marvel publishers appoint someone on staff to take a day or two to organize these stories in a narrative format that flows? Instead the books are grouped together by title rather than chronology. Seems a bit lazy on their part. I can't imagine it would be that hard to arrange since there is a pretty obvious reading order to these events. So bottom line is this: you can search online for the list detailing which books come first in the timeline and go for it, but you will be doing quite a bit of flipping around. If that sort of thing doesn't bother you (or if you simply don't care about the order in which you read these stories) then this book is worth every cent!

Great story and presentation but poor reading order.
What more can I say about the space opera War of Kings? It has The Guardians of the Galaxy, The Inhumans, The Nova Corps, Kree and Shi'Ar Empires at war with each other, politics, explosions, everything! Abnett and Lanning hit it on all cylinders here weaving multiple comics in and out of each other. I had way more fun reading this than I had reading Annihilation: Conquest which I thought was a snooze fest. I just had one problem with this collection. Now we all know that Marvel Omnibuses are top quality. The pages are made of a nice glossy paper stock, the binding is sewn so the book has very little to no gutter loss. But they way this is collected is disappointing. The main series War of Kings is all collected in the middle of the book with the tie-ins coming after it. The reading order totally screwed up in this collection which has disappointed me enough to rate it lower than i would like to.

Great Story
I thought this was a great book and story. You have to know a little about the Marvel Space characters to understand. I highly recommend the "Prelude to War of Kings", and "Realm of Kings" to be read also. Kind of a lot and maybe a little expensive but you will have a complete story from beginning to end. If you don't you will have many questions. Good by itself, great if included in the trilogy. The art and quality of the book itself are awesome. Mine has been read by four members of my family and the book is still in excellent shape.

Good. Great in places.
I see a few people complained about the reading order, but I prefer it the way it is, it keeps some sort of consistency of tone and writing style. To be frank the X-Men titles aren't great (Vulcan just seems rushed to me), but they are counteracted by the Guardians of the Galaxy and Nova runs which most definitely ARE great. I don't think they could have removed much without the story not making sense though.A decent read, and forms part of a massive run from Annihilation->Realm of Kings which would keep anyone busy reading for many weeks!

Jaw droppingly good
The entire story starts in Annihilation and ends in Realm of the Kings. But this omnibus is a masterpiece on its own. As good as the best work of Jim Starlin. Page turner.

Now i loved this series
Now i loved this series. I went into it blind. And it was great. Its a true saga. The story is great. The book is great quality. Sewn binding. No gutter loss. Stays open on the first page. Underneath the dust jacket is a great looking cover. Better that the dust jackets in my opinion. My only complaint is that the issues are in order of actual series. Not chronoligical order. Basically all the xmen issues are together. The nova issues are together. And so on. Which is fine for the first part. As it builds up to the main event. But once you get to the main event? It doesnt work. You have 3 or 4 storyline all happening at the same time. And its hard to know what is going on when you read them in this order. If it was in chronological order the book would have been a much smoother read. I have no idea why marvel did this. But all in all? Def worth buying. Its expensive. But you get your moneys worth. Its a huge book. 1300 pages. And worth every penny. I just wish marvel made it in the proper reading order
