This beautiful advent paper calendar is about 14 inches by 10 inches and was manufactured in Germany by the Richard Sellmer Verlag Company. The detailed picture has 24 little doors to open. The tradition is to open one door each day from December 1 thru December 24. Children love to open a door a day as they count down to Christmas. This calendar has glitter. The first advent calendar with little doors was printed in the early 1900's and continues today. **This is a German Traditional Calendar and does not come with chocolates or any other type of treats/gifts**

Quality
This is a great advent calendar. I know that it got a dis-favorable review from someone who expected it to be more for the price but that is ridiculous. They wanted a wooden one they could keep for this price. Only way that could happen is if it had been made in a sweat shop. This is a beautiful paper calendar that has lovely art work. It is not a Hallmarks. It is quality. It also tells the true story of Christmas from Bible verses under the doors. I do not want to open up the 24th to find Santa grinning at me. With all of the silly advent calendars offered on Amazon I was glad to find one that didn't miss the reason.

Very thin cardboard for $19.
For this price we were expecting more than thin cardboard with pop-out windows with a piece of paper on the back with pictures inside. Very disappointed. I should have made something myself and may wind up doing just that if someone tears this trying to open a door. We were hoping to reuse this for a few years.
