Demystifies a complicated subject
It is a detailed examination of all the parts of the Arduino system. The middle section is a step-by-step guide on how to: load standard code, how to customize code, and load code onto the Arduino device. In the last section, there are some easy to replicate examples. Very easy to read. With some fun sample projects.

Just what I needed!
I'm pretty conservative on giving out 5 stars but I was really excited to get into the Arduino world. Perhaps my excitement makes my review bias, but it's fair to me.I ordered a starter kit with the Arduino Uno and jumped right into the book that was provided in the kit. The book in the kit is very good as well, as it jump started my installation of everything very smoothly and had me doing a couple sketches (programs) within 15 minutes. The sketches even describe how the code works with the Arduino hardware and that was very helpful. However, it began to get deep fairly quick, so I turned to this book.I began working with the sketches the book starts with (and which the software has preloaded for you as well) and the "Dummies" part of the title began showing it's face. I'm very new to both the programming language which is based on C and electronics in general, so the holding hands essence of this book was great. It explains to you in great detail what each line of code means and how you can manipulate it to get a feel for the functions.I'm sure some seasoned electronics guys and girls as well as programmers may find it all redundant, but if you are looking at buying this book, it's probably because you feel like a "Dummie", not because you're really great at this stuff. Highly recommended as a starter! I'm about half way through, but I'm betting I will be hungry for more deeper books and this one will have given me a solid foundation to stand on!

Arduino For Dummies [Kindle Edition]
This offering of good information from John Nussey and the Dummie Books, Arduino For Dummies [Kindle Edition] is a good starting place to learn about the Arduino hobby and some good tips and how to's for those just getting started. I like it, because it is not very complicated to read and absorb what the author is trying to get across. Simple and direct, with out skipping much of the necessary knowledge you need, that some other books just assume you have already come across. Worth having on the Kindle reader, as I have gone over to the Dark Side and am pretty much a Digital Reader now. I like it for it simplicity in explaining the material and then mentioning it again later. The price is not much of a factor at less than $14. Works for me!

Good place to start
Since I knew absolutely nothing about Arduinos, I thought this would be a good starting point. It has been that, though I wasn't able to complete all of the author's projects - either because I didn't have the necessary componentsor it just wouldn't work.Fortunately, I found some outside resources that helped clarify some of the issues I was having and I can say I nowknow more than what I knew at the beginning. Two other points; I bought this book because I was familiar with Processing, the language most of the examples arecoded in. If you know Processing, the hardware/code interaction part is easier to grasp.Point two: You'll need some sort of Arduino project kit if you want those LED's to blink.

Interested in Arduino? A good book to get.
Recommended for those that are curious about what you need to know to use a microprocessor.Requires you only to be interested. It has tons of pages with tons of information all covered step by step. What has to be done, with what and where to find it are all covered.I also like the author's style of writing. He knows that for you to use Arduino, or any other microprocessor, you have to figure out how to program the device to do what you actually want it to do. Programming (for those of us who were never exposed to it) is like learning to write a strictly logical foreign language. The author gives me hope that it can be done by using a cut and paste, trial and error sort of thing. At least, this is the point of the learning curve where I'm at.If you have covered the beginning Arduino material out there, or if you haven't even started, check out this book.

Yeah good book.
I prefer this book to another book I bought. And I like it better than on-line tutorials because I can study the sketches at my own pace. Projects have both drawings and schematics and the code is explained line by line. I recommend this book to any novice such as I am.

Too many typos
This book had the potential for being excellent, but there are way too many typographical errors. This is fatal in a book for beginners who are trying to learn both the hardware and the programming language. Each error seems minor, but in total it may be too discouraging for a person trying to learn all this tricky (and very technical) stuff. One misplaced comma makes a program sketch impossible to run, or worse, runs with the wrong results. Shame on the authors for not proofreading before publishing. This should have been an excellent book.

Must have for beginners.
I bought this along with a starter arduino kit and this book has proven invaluable, it has a clear direction for learning and gives you plenty of places to visit online after you've finished with it. I would not have had as much fun with my kit if I hadn't had this book with it. There are plenty of tutorials which are written out in a way that makes them as challenging as you like, so you can read the whole thing and work out how to complete to project or use the solution. It helps with both the circuitry and programming. I would recommend this book to anyone starting out with arduino.

Its alright, but..
Its a good beginners guide and has some decent content BUT it is absolutely riddled with mistakes, and there is a lot of page bloating. Im assuming the 'for dummies' franchise require X amount of pages, and absolutely no technical proof reading.

Really well written, covers a lot, and gives you great ideas
This seems to be a well written book - nicely positioned with enough detail to help you understand the Arduino, yet not so in-depth as to be overly complicated. There are loads of example projects, and enough detail so that you can develop your own ideas on top - in other words, begin the learning process. Nice book, I like it.

A must read for Arduino Beginners
This book is well illustrated, clearly explained and although pitched well for beginners goes into a lot of detail and gives lots of ideas and information on where to go next. It even includes useful tips on soldering those tiny boards. Not the first book I tried on this subject but definitely the best. Highly recommend.

with a nice chapter on applying what you have learnt
Bit too wordy but that's what you expect with this range of books. Takes you thought the coding very thoroughly, with a nice chapter on applying what you have learnt. There are over 400 pages so it should be comprehensive
