Average Really
Having picked up the Heroines book of this series, my hopes were high for this book.Unfortunately, it didn't quite deliver. The quality of the book is good. Nice print on thick paper. There's a lot going on. 50 artists have contributed content so you're getting a lot of art for what you pay.On the downside, some of the artists have either phoned it in or just never seen a movie. A couple of the designs were straight up ripped off of films or other character designs already out in the world. The Snow Queen and Maui stand out in my memory for this in particular. Others were just...really generic.I suppose it was a good showcase of the artists' thought processed behind coming to a particular design but it was clear some of them hadn't been thinking particularly hard about it either.

Fantastic art book showcasing the talents of 50 illustrators
This is the 2nd in the Character Design Collection series of illustration and art books. In this book, the theme is fairytales and character designs from folklore. So it has 2 double pages per artist (and 50 artists featured) each doing a design for creatures like gnomes, werewolves, wizards, trolls etc. It's a nice a paperback book brimming with inspirational ideas and great to just dip into when you need to be creatively inspired. It's just over 200 pages long and I like the fact that there is information on each of the artists who contributed towards the ends. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series now!
