Sizing help - between sizes XS and SM
This is really just a review on sizing- if you’re between sizes hopefully this helps. I’m 5’6, 120lb and usually a 0 or 2 in clothing. Size guide based on measurements has me right on the cusp between an XS and a S/M for all three pads.In the pic the red/blue/white is a size XS and the blue and black (Electric Bolt) is size S/M.Short version is that neither set works for me. I can purchase separately but unfortunately neither knee pad worked. The padding is excellent and they appear to be well made- unfortunately just not right for this body. From everything I've read/watched on sizing these pads it's recommended that they feel pretty snug. Once you warm up they'll become more malleable and conform to your body. Also, with time they'll stretch out a bit. So, keeping those suggestions in mind, that's how I determined the correct fit for me.Wrist guards- The S/M fit and are definitely my size. The XS were way too small. I think I'm a size 7 in gloves which is a womans small or medium. My ring finger is a a size 5.5.Elbow pads- The XS fit great, very secure. The S/M were much too loose. I secured them as tightly as possible but that made the velcro straps stick out and snag my clothing.Knee pads- First, the difference in size between the XS and the S/M knee pads is... significant. And, unfortunately, neither knee pad worked for me. The S/M had the coverage I wanted but it was too roomy. Even cinched down below my knee as tightly as possible I had a long strap hanging down to my ankle and I still felt like my knee was swimming in them. The XS fit nice and snug but didn't offer enough coverage- if they had been longer they would have been great. (I watched the 187 video on sizing knee pads and they recommend the knee pad sit one hand width above and one hand width below your knee cap. The S/M is the right length (just not the right width). The XS is too short- closer to 2 or 2.5 fingers above and below my knee cap. I feel like they're made for a shorter person. I'm 5'6", I think you'd need to be shorter than that for the XS knee pads to fit properly.Another thing about the knee pads is that the size and shape of the plastic is different. I expected the size to be different but not the shape. The plastic on the XS knee pad measures 5x5 and is completely rounded with no flat areas- it looks kind of like an elbow pad. The plastic on the S/M measures 6x6, (I wouldn’t think an inch difference would make that much difference but it really does). Also, the plastic is flat on the front and the edges are curved. A feature I see more higher end and pro pads.Fit aside I did a dead fall onto my knees wearing both pads onto a wood floor. Both were very protective. Surprisingly, the shape difference didn’t affect how I landed. I thought my knee would roll in the XS but it didn't.Protection wise these are a big thumbs up. I'm super bummed they don't fit.

Wrist/elbow guards are great! idk about knee..
I'm 5'9 and about somewhere between 165-175lbs. The wrist guards and elbow guards for the S/M fit pretty well and were not uncomfortable. Unfortunately the knee pads seemed fairly tight and I'm unsure if I am possibly wearing or standing wrong while using the pads but the pads themselves felt like they were digging into my knees and just felt off. Again I could be posturing wrong, but I don't know. Will be using these guards when I am roller skating and for now I'll pass on using the knee pads until I can possibly fit into them more comfortably as I carry alot of my weight in my legs.

Poor quality
My daughter is a professional skater and these pads do not hold up. She has had maybe 10 sets and all have been of poor quality. I would suggest jmb gear or protec. Not worth the price.

Good pads but not designed to last
Bought these because 187 pads have a reputation of being the best. We bought the set consisting of wrist, knee, elbow pads for my daughter to learn skateboarding. After 1 year she's pretty good but in that one year we've bought 6 or 7 sets of these pads and they've all died the same way. You'll notice that the plastic caps are held on with rivets. These rivets are made of a soft metal and wear down extremely quickly causing the plastic caps to flap around and then fall off. Really 6 sets in one year is crazy, this is a poor design. You'll notice on the professional ones that there are no rivets so I expect these would be better. Giving them a 2 because they are comfortable and do protect but for this price they should last longer. My advice is don't buy the ones with rivets.

Perfect size for a 8-9 year old
My kids are at the skatepark all summer... Every summer... We have used and seen a lot of less expensive brands. These hold up to four months of abuse. My kids skate pretty hard. They don't always stick the landings. They have learned to trust Killer 187 Pads to protect them as they slide/skid across the concrete after failing some 3 foot jump at 15-20 mph at the skatepark... These wrist guards are a must... I have seen too many broken wrists... Never on my kids though!

These are painful to wear
I got the XL pads because I have pumped iron since I was 19 years old. I am not huge and probably could not find pads if I was. I used the sizing guide to determine what size I needed and XL was the biggest available, but is also the size the size chart said I need. The elastic band that goes around the arms and leg is pretty snug without tightening the velcro and slide bucket bands on the knee pads. The knee pads are fine as long as the wearer has not intention of ever standing up. Once I stood up, the bottom edge of the pads started digging a groove across my shins. I only had these on long enough to test them out. I had them on for about 5 minutes tops. The pain was excruciating. They dug in so much I had an indentation across the front of my leg below the knee. It was a lot to bear with the straps completely loose. Buyer beware. These pads were obviously design for a seated position and not a standing one. Even with the knees slightly bent, the pain from the digging in is a lot. So in the comfort rating, a one star is the lowest that can be given, but it should be much lower.Sure they are thick and probably have good durability. But if one can't wear them because of the pain and disfiguration from wearing them, what difference would that make? The description of large / extra large is deceptive. There is nothing extra large about them. I cannot imagine a full grown man calling himself extra large if these fit. That would be one skinny guy.

Not for children older than 8yrs old!
I understand this is for juniors but nowhere in the description online or on Amazon or any photo does it say this product is for ages 4-8 years old. This came and it was too small for my 9 year old. So the "junior" description is misleading because it is for children 4-8 (which is written across the top of the product when it arrived to me). Total let down for my excited 9yr old to open it, it is too small, and have to turn around to return and order a bigger size. When all of his could have been avoided if there was a clear message in the product description.

Take measurements as instructed! Watch 187 YouTube video. Pads hv lots of cushion!
Love it! I’m 5”2 and usually wear a medium and a size 6 -8 in dress size so when I took the measurements as instructed when purchasing this set I was surprised my measurements were indicating I would need to order a Large.I have no problem with thst it’s just I was doubting if that would actually be the case. But…I trusted the process and stuck with the large. And sure enough large was perfect fit! SO MEASURE YOURSELF. There is a video on YOUTUBE where the owner of 187 shows how to take a proper measurement. Watch it! Also, I already had a bad fall on my knees and the pads are AWESOME! LOTS of cushion! I ordered the pink, teal-blue and white -love it! Looks exactly how shown. Pads are light and comfortable when you purchase the right size! Also, think that you are most likely going to put these pads over clothes as well so it’s great it gives that extra room. Also, the Velcro is secure and strong. Pads don’t slip and stay in place!I LOVE THE ENTIRE SET! Fell several times ( relearning to roller skate again) and it’s been awesome protective gear! Also, this gear looks “cool” lol! I don’t find them clunky either! I highly recommend! I hope this review helps

Child's safety worth the price
Arrived before scheduled date. Exactly as described. 187 Killer Kneepads, Elbow pads, and Wrist pads are definitely worth buying for your child, especially if they're using the skatepark. They can confidently do their tricks in bowls; grinding; landing jumps...they can slide on their knees without fear of injury. Excellent for scootering or skateboarding! I would definitely invest in Killer Pads for your child. I found the cheaper pads were ok when children were 4, but now that they are 8 and 9, they need this protection. I see too many unnecessary injuries on the skatepark.

Great quality pads, well built.
These are the pads to buy. Don't bother looking at other brands. The protection and build quality on these pads is great. If you are doing really, really serious transition skating - like 7+ foot bowls, then maybe you start looking at the pro kneepads for both protection and longevity (because the caps are replicable). But for everyone else, this should do you really well.I'm a nearly 200lb adult and they're great for me. I'd also recommend the (kids sized version) for kids. I'm totally sold on 187 pads now, having tried Triple8 and getting roadrash from an elbow pad that wouldn't stay in place.
