Broken Heart Syndrome

Metal After 8
Wow!What a cover! An old Marshall and Strat! You know this has to be a good album, and it is a great listen. Blues based rock with some tasteful shred for effect. Love the sound of a strat through a Marshall amp played balls out! Prefered this release only slightly more than previous release. It is a great buy if you like classic blues based rock with some shred well placed for effect. No pyrotechnics or aimless noodling over well trodden scales. Play it loud and proud!

there is no doubt that you will love this music
My God ! I wonder if Richie Blackmore, or David Coverdale have any idea how they influenced Voodoo Circle ? If you are fans of Rainbow, and White Snake, there is no doubt that you will love this music. All I can say is . . . what a great cd.

Check this band out
This is Voodoo Circle's second of currently 3 discs and I feel that it is a notch below the other two. I do like the CD which sounds very much at times as if Mr. Blackmore was captured to be their guitar player. Definitely worth a spin but don't pay big bucks for it.

Like Rainbow/Deep Purple 70's Jams!!
Great album, if you like Rainbow/Deep Purple/Tommy Bolin '70's-type jams!! The guitar player (Alex) is awesome, as is Readman's vocals. I recommend this album!

Not as good as the others...
Broken heart Syndrome is the second album from Alex Beyrodt's solo project Voodoo Circle. This band is one that sounds suspiciously like mid to late '80s Whitesnake and rides that wave well. To do that however, you first need good songs and unfortunately, this album came up a little short. You see, I feel like Broken heart Syndrome is one of those albums that is absolutely fine on the surface. It does nothing wrong in terms of sound or performance. But it just doesn't have any memorable hooks, melodies, riffs or solos. The playing from Mat Sinner, Markus Kullmann, Jimmy Kresic and David Readman is all very good. Beyrodt's guitar playing is particularly good. He's a very skilled player and together, they all sound like a great well put together band. There's just nothing here that screams "Must Buy!"I think the problem may lie with the producer, the person who should be kicking the song writers (Beyrodt and Readman) in the backside. That person is Alex Beyrodt himself. Knowing he produced his own album makes me wonder if the lack of people to challenge his writing made the songs too safe and middle of the road. It's clear that this guy can write, the other albums are very good. it just sounds like he needs someone to challenge him. Where is Mutt Lange when you need him.It is clear that people enjoyed this album more than I did, so you may find it is more your cup of tea. But I do think it's the weakest of the Voodoo Circle albums and I wouldn't rush out to pick this one up. It's not bad by any means, it's average at best. It's just a bit run of the mill with nothing to truly sink your teeth into. Buy the others before you come to Broken heart Syndrome and then maybe pick this one up on discount.

Magic Roundabout?
Voodoo Circle like to play with magic... in name and in the mix. This is a simply wonderful album marvellously mixed. The production is gorgeous but that is of no importance if the band doesn't deliver. Well let me state unambiguously: the band delivers! If you like Deep Purple, Rainbow, and the harder elements of Journey, you are going to love this.

Rainbow and Deep Purple then you will absolutely love this album
If you're a fan of Coverdale style vocals and classic Whitesnake, Rainbow and Deep Purple then you will absolutely love this album. For me, unfortunately, I found it a little dull. Don't get me wrong, the musicianship is top class but nothing caught my ear on multiple listens.

A perfect piece of art
Since their debut Voodoo Circle was faded to success. Success among people who really like good music and love bands like Deep Purple, Whitesnake, Rainbow, etc... mixed with excellent contemporary performances. Everything in this albun is perfect, I mean. Production, sound, lyrics, feeling. I loved the first VC CD, but this is one is two or three levels above. I love this kind of music and I put this one in my top 5 CDs of the year.
