Very good drive
I bought this drive to replace the broken one on my HP/Compaq laptop. I was actually a bit concern that it wouldn't work on the Compaq because HP seems to have a habit to lock certain components in the BIOS, such as the wireless card. But the same drive with the HP label costs twice as much, I was all ready for a BIOS hack, to my delight, I popped in the drive and it just works like a champ!! All I needed to do was to replace the bazel with the one belongs to the laptop.

When you really need a laptop drive
Finding an external DVD drive is easy. Finding one that fits in your laptop is hard. So, when my laptop drive failed (and failed completely), the only true replacement I could find was from this vendor. The product was delivered on time (actually far ahead of time thanks to their extremely conservative delivery promise), and worked perfectly. (Diagrams of how to replace a drive on a laptop can easily be found on the web, making installation almost as easy as with a desktop.)

DVD-DL RW Laptop Drive
This drive works great in my A305 Toshiba Satellite. One screw in the memory compartment allows easy replacement of drive on this laptop. The faceplate on the A305 has an offset. This requires exchanging the new faceplate with the one off the old drive. The driver automatically found for this drive on my Vista 64 Laptop is "TSST Corp CDDVDW TS-L632 ATA Device. FAST Shipper!!!

NOT a Lightscribe drive!
Got it with Prime so came fast, but it is not a LightScribe drive as it claims. I am not happy I expect to receive what I ordered!

Product worked
I bought this for my computer with suspicion my current one had gone bad, I received it and it fit in the computer and "worked" as in it ran, but it didn't read disks either so I have a feeling it is the computer, still giving it 5 stars because there didn't seem to be anything wrong with the product, and the seller was great about getting it to me timely.

NOS?
Bought this thinking it was NEW. Seems to be NOS, maybe even used? Mfg. 2006.And there was this strange dent on the bottom side of the cd door.Other then that, seems to work okay. Would have returned but where else am I going to get a PATA drive?

Toshiba Samsung TS-L632H NOT LightScribe!
Update - I recently received Toshiba Samsung TS-L632H optical laptop drive Fulfilled by Amazon and sold by Acumen Disc. The product description clearly states that the unit is also a LightScribe burner. Yet after installing the drive and loading the LightScribe system software (LSS) - LSS says it can not detect any lightscribe drive! The TSST unit I received was a TS-L632H model. Apparently there are L632D & L632L models - unclear if either of those are lightscribe drives. I noticed someone else had commented that they also did not receive a lightscribe drive. I called Amazon since they will only refund fulfilled by Amazon products - they offered a full refund with a free shipping return label. I also contacted the seller - Acumen Disc. Acumen Disc stated "We only provide the products to them [Amazon]and they shipped out from one of their warehouses to the buyers. Often time, we think they commingled the products with other sellers in the same lot."As of today, February 27th, the drive is being Sold by Etekcity and Fulfilled by Amazon - hopefully those units will be lightscribe.Update - I double checked the laptop that I installed the replacement TS-L632H drive into and I made sure the WinXP MCE SP3 Phoenix BIOS was up-to-date and the drive's driver was also up-to-date. I then connected my USB LiteOn Lightscribe drive to the laptop - when I checked the LSS it detected my USB LiteOn drive as a LightScribe drive. So the laptop itself does support lightscribe drives. And the TS-L632H model that I received from Acumen Disc does work fine for everything else except lightscribing labels. So again to summarize the TS-L632H model I received from Acumen Disc is NOT a LightScribe drive!
