Handy, but could be hardier
I have had this product for about six months now. I purchased it originally to mount my iPhone 3G to my wheelchair. This product's versatility allowed me a wide array of places I could mount it to secure my phone in a usable position. But I was somewhat limited by the weak strength of the clip. As a result, I had to also secure the flexible shaft with a strap to keep my phone from moving around too much. For me this was a minor detail, considering mounting to a metal tube is a difficult thing to do with a spring-loaded clip alone. The clip design is such that it is very good at clipping to flat surfaces due to the use of hinges and rubber pads, but not so much so for curved surfaces. My main complaint is their use of plastic for the clip. I thought I was paying the extra money to upgrade from a cheap plastic mount to something more durable, which unfortunately was not the case. It was not long before part of the spring-loaded hinge was broken irreparably, whereas metal construction would have been more appropriate for such a vulnerable area (hinge between the two halves of the clip and containing the spring).Regardless, this product will serve most people well for occasional and even moderate use, but may not hold up too well to prolonged everyday use.**Edit - shortly after I posted this review I received a replacement in the mail, which has so far been much more durable. At this point it seems more likely I will be replacing my phone before this mount wears out. It has weathered the last couple years well. Here's to hoping that the iPhone 5, whenever it shows up, will also fit this mount. Also, I'd like to send a well-deserved thank you to the merchant for sending a replacement on their own initiative. I am definitely a satisfied customer.

Great For Traveling On A Plane
I bought this as I travel a lot for work. I figured it would be nice to have my iPhone as eyes level while sitting on the plane so my neck doesn't get sore. It clips easily onto the tray table and stays out of the way so you can eat or have other items on the tray table. I've also used this in the car to hold up my phone while using the map for driving directions. Depending on the car, a lot of times there is no where to clip it that will hold it up where you would like. It fits well in any bag, backpack or laptop bag so it doesn't take up a lot of room. I've gotten so many comments from people sitting next to me on the plane that it is such a cool thing to have while traveling and they often say they are going to order one as well (your welcome Amazon). I've even got compliments from flight attendants. The only gripe I have is after using it for so long and often, the two small bars that hold the bendable clamp together come out so the bendable clamp comes off and you have to quickly assemble it back together. This hasn't happened a lot but I would think that as the more I use it, it might happen more often.Regardless, it's a great tool to have if you travel a lot or if you're just planning to mount your iPhone somewhere and you don't want to hold it.Note to self, if you're using it on a plane, make sure you don't put it in the seat pocket in front of you. I almost forgot mine there. Once you're done with it, put it back in your bag. Trying to get something off of a plane after you've notice you've left it there is nearly impossible. Trust me, I know.

Grip not as secure as expected
The product does its basic job fine; it holds your iPhone in place allowing you hands-free communication.I use this on my desk at home so I can have my iPhone like a mini-monitor. It's great for monitoring stocks and any other useful apps you have (or just playing games without having to hold your phone or place it flat on a desk). It's also great for reading, as you can sit back and enjoy reading digital books on your iPhone without having to constantly being holding your phone in front of your face. My most useful purpose however has been simply having my phone in this while talking on the phone. It is great for someone like me who prefers to use speakerphone and multi-task while on phonecalls. With all that being said, the usefulness of this product is only half the battle. The construction is a little fault, with the iPhone not being properly supported at all times. Sometimes my phone will begin to sink from its original position as the cord bends from the weight. When attempting to turn and maneuver my phone, the grip on the desk also begins to slip (have tested on desks of varying thickness, all function the same way). After awhile, my phone has come close to falling, forcing me to push the grip back further onto the desk. The design also limits what it can be placed on. If something is too thick, it is nearly impossible. The same goes for something which does not have much depth. If it is too thin of a surface, the stability is weaker. It's a nice product if you have a good setup for it, but it's not highly reliable in design. I assume pricier models of this device function better in that regard, if you have the extra cash to spend.
