Works great as advertised
Recently got a full Ring alarm system for the house and was looking for a way to power the keypads from the old wiring instead of running the provided power cord to an outlet. Found a YouTube video and this is what the poster used on to do it in his home. Delivery was quick and after watching the video, they installed very quickly. I've had them installed w/the keypads for about 6 months now and no issues at all. I did use a j-box in the wall for one of the converters but not the other. No issues with either and the voltage is extremely minimal. Just make sure you don't have any bare wire showing on your connections if you don't use a j-box and you should be fine.

Works like a charm !! Great product !!
Works great to convert my old alarm wiring for the new Ring alarm pad. Got this installed and working within 10 minutes. I make sure to also use electrical tapes and wrap them around the wire nuts before dropping them inside the dry wall.Works like a charm and for only $10, this is a great product ..

Works with Ring Alarm Keypad
I was using this to power my Ring Alarm Keypad using the wires from the old security systems. Works great, wish the box was shorter since I had to burn/saw some of the edges off.

Used to get 5v to a remote Wyze cam
Because all I had was a long run of ethernet cable to an outdoor location, there was a non-trivial amount voltage drop and the camera refused to work.Using this converter, I ran ~12v then converted it back to a steady 5v. Even with the 12v having some voltage dropping it worked GREAT.(FYI: Running over ethernet required soldering, other adaptors and a separate 12v power supply.)Bonus: it plugged directly into my webcam!

DOA
Dead on Arrival. After plugging it in and getting NO output, and I am guessing it shorted the video card on the Nvidia P3450, which has no overload protection, which was the reason we bought this step down module in the first place. Then After passing all the 5 star ratings, I came to the newer less starts showing, DOA, and or going dead after 2 weeks of use.Do not spend you money. It looks cool, but doesn't work.

To Blow, Or Not to Blow?
Well, this received a 5 star rating due to the fact that had I used the device as intended, it probably would have worked great! However, in all of my I finite wisdom, I made the mistake of using this on a 110v as opposed to 12V. Good times! It was like gunfire in my kitchen. Amazeballs!Blew a hole right through the side of it. It was pretty amazing!Would buy again if I was purchasing for the right reason. Don’t connect to 110. Furreal.

Working great for Ring Alarm
Used to provide hard wired 5v for a Ring alarm keypad and base station. We already had low voltage wiring for an older style alarm system. I fed 24v through the existing wiring and stepped it down to 5v at the device. Works great for this purpose.

Works until it fails and passes 12v, likely destroying the powered device
Edit 10/14/20: Another one of them failed in exactly the same way as the last one, destroying another one of my security cameras. These things are trash and it’s clearly not just the fluke. Dropping to one star.Original review:I’ve been using a bunch of these to convert 12v to 5v to drive micro-usb security cameras outside. Worked great for about 8 months but then one of them suddenly started passing 12v to the camera, which promptly fried it. I’m hoping it was a fluke as I don’t see a comparable product with a micro usb connector already in place
