Inspiration for artists and those who nurture the gifted among us.
This wonderful book is a “must read” for anyone who is an artist, regardless of the guise they show up in on a daily basis. Also for anyone who leads or works with a team of creatives, or anyone who happens to be the parent of a child who is an artist. I qualify only as a parent so approached the topic with apprehension as well as fascination.I have four kids in the commercial art arena, one is a photographer working in LA as a freelancer, one is an art director in advertising at Mother London, one is a movie concept artist - Harry Potter, James Bond, Batman etc in London, another is just finishing her Masters at Columbia and seems destined for a career in some kind of artistic pursuit. Our youngest is only 15 and already showing a gift for drawing. I pre-ordered them each a copy of Creative Rebellion.I was given a pre-release copy of The Art of Creative Rebellion having heard the author speak at a conference. It's full of empathy and valuable advice based on John Couch’s real world experience as an artist and as leader of a large creative team. The first opportunity I got to read it was at 7am on the following morning. It is so beautifully written and designed, I literally couldn't put it down until it was finished at 2pm that same day. I normally take weeks to read any book, this was a first for me.The Art of Creative Rebellion illuminates, and brings deep insight in a very accessible way, to much of what I have been exposed to through the collective experience of my kids. The good news is that there is someone who can explain these things so clearly and who demonstrates through his life and work that it is possible to lead a team of creatives without destroying them in the process. And that it is possible to pursue your own artistic destiny without perpetual compromise or starvation! Two feats, thought by many to be beyond the reach of most humans.Thank you for the inspiration John, the world needs art and artists more than at any time in the history of mankind.Peter Sole

A helpful and inspiring guide to utilizing Creativity
I work in Tech. While it can be creative field, often we develop and carry a sustained fear of our creative passion. My career in particular can just as easily punish you for creativity when not understood or expressed properly. The safe head down do your job soldier routine is the most rewarded behavior. This tends to suppress our creativity, reducing what are capable of, suppressing who we are.The Art of Creative Rebellion is designed to show you how to reconnect with, trust in and express outwardly your abilities. It acts as a Mantra, a guided creative meditation, and a clear how to book that can show you how to not disappear into the "Beige padded cubicles" by reconnecting with the abilities to collaborate, build something bigger and remember you are more than the job. By doing so, you can be better at all these things by restoring you.I often turn to random pages like Tasseography to interpret the advice the universe needed me to hear at that moment and it never fails me.The only other book that i can regularly successfully accomplish that with is Illusions by Richard Bach.

So so good
So so good. As a new architect and an advent musician this book is godsend. If you're a high functioning creative who's looking for a kindred spirit to guide you you've got it. If you're a stay at home mom who's looking to get inspired to paint/make/whatever you've got it.Couch has a way with words and with tapping into that creative energy to focus and commit to the things we love. One of my favorite quotes in this book is that there's always time. I love how he jam packs so much into his life and finds a way to take the richness out of all his experiences. His words are also white practical and can help those still getting the hang of their process out.Don't miss what's sure to be an instant classic.

Personal reflection and inspiring!
I was fortunate enough to be introduced to this book because of my work, book club! I didn't think much about it when selected and to be honest it took me a few chapters to really appreciate what I was reading. John is very open with his experiences and I started to reflect more and more on my own professional and personal journey. I truly ended up enjoying this gift and would recommend it for those that are looking for a change or reflect on how you are successfully making changes for yourself.

Got Creativity?
The Art of Creative Rebellion is a gift of wisdom and inspiration. Peppered with original aphorisms and anecdotes from the multi-talented author's colorful experience, the book explores important ideas about creativity, leadership and humanity. Like the powerful image of the author's handprint on the cover, thick blue brushstrokes weave an enchanting symbolism throughout the chapters, creating a synergy that is aesthetically and intellectually engaging. Whether you are in the creative industry or not, this book is a compelling read -- revealing, thought-provoking, motivating, and indeed a survival guide for the creative soul -- we've all got one! What are you waiting for!?
