Dead battery - fragile - works for now
I managed to replace a wireless sensor with this one. The other one only lasted a few years -- others report that these sensors fail because the plastic housing gets brittle. That seems to be what happened to mine. So I don't expect this to last more than a few years.Unfortunately, the battery that came with this new sensor was dead. I replaced it and it seems to be working OK.If you're looking for installation instructions, others have posted correct steps:1. Press *82. Enter in your installers code3. Press 804 (to get into wireless modules)4. Enter in the Zone number for the sensor5. Enter in the serial number6. Press # (two or three times to exit)A note about the serial number: I was confused before I realized that the 6-digit serial number uses hex numbers. Here's what I found: "A" = "*1*"; "B" = "*2*"; etc. So a serial number of 2A12F2 = 2*1*12*6*2.

Works well with DSC Alexor system, battery life mostly ok
Part of a self install security system. Range is great and they have not failed me after 6+ years. Batteries have to be change about every 12-16 months. No biggie

Worked
Unfortunately the first one that was sent out to me was defective and I spent a lot of time trying to figure that out. After figuring it out they sent me a replacement and it worked and was setup in less than 10 minutes.

Awesome door/window contacts!
Very sleek and nice door/window contacts. Pretty easy to install. If you are doing this yourself (like i did) a few things to watch out for:1) the sensor edge that has to stay close to the magnets is not very obvious. looks for the rough edges on the sensor to ensure you get it lined up appropriately.2) make sure you program the DSC system before you apply the self sticking tape or putting the contacts on the window. It's easier to troubleshoot and more importantly the ESN # is not visible once you put on the self sticking tapeHere's what I did to program these into my DSC1832 (you will need the installer's code)1) Program zone definitions for the sensors (section 001 for first 16 zones, section 002 for zones 17-32)2) Program ESN (section 804)3) Zone enable (Section 203 for 9 -16 /204 for 17-24)4) Wireless enable (section 101 - 132). Toggle switch 8.

Works great but instructions are defective
I saw that some reviewers complained of not getting instructions. I did with mine but the instructions aren't exactly correct. The sensor works great with my DSC PC1832 panel, getting that out of the way.The thing to watch for is that the instructions tell you to put the double-stick mounting pad on the back and mount to the wall, door, or window, before mentioning the programming process. There's the rub. In order to program it, you need the electronic serial number (ESN) off the back of the sensor and you just covered it (or I just covered it) with the double-stick foam. Pulling the foam off destroys the ESN label and would have made this device worthless except that I used extreme caution and even then had to guess some of the numbers and try different combinations until I got it right. Just write down the ESN before mounting. It's a mistake you would only make once so if you have already installed wireless devices on your DSC alarm you probably don't need this tip. First timers, though, should take note.

Works well with my DSC1864 alarm panel
I have approximately 18 of these installed on the vinyl windows of my home. They are perfect in that the blend in and are barely noticeable. Being wireless, they prevent having to drill into the windows and void their warranty. I've used this model continuously since approximately 2008. The batteries do truly last about 5 years of regular use. However, windows that face the south and have a lot of light exposure tend to make the plastic brittle over time.I've had to replace several contacts after the brittle plastic broke during the battery swap. Please note, however, that the units were at least 10 years old when they needed to be replaced and they were mostly units with constant sun exposure.

Tyco Window Sensor
It is working.Initially, the new Tyco unit would not sync with the Security System Controller without reprogramming the Controller (requiring a trip and service charge by the system installer).Took the electronics board out of the old unit and put it in the new Tyco base and it sync with the Security System Controller and is working fine..

Work great! Supervised, tamper proof, etc...
Very nice. Very very small and discrete. Very reliable. Great range. Very good on supervision/battery info etc. Great battery life. Only downside vs. the older 4945 style: these aren't setup for external contacts (i.e. for somethingother than the magnet/reed-switch. Not an issue if you don't need that. Way less likely to get dislodged vs. the older 4945 style, due to much much much much (enough?) lower profile.

as described
need to call in tech to program into existing security system.
