At any brightness level, if the screen is not directly in front of you, the image is obscured. So if you're streaming or have a YT video playing while cooking or cleaning, like I often do, for example, and you glance at the screen from an angle, even up close, the screen might as well be snow. I spilled water on my Apple Air and made a quick purchase of this thing to tide me over and I could not be more disappointed. I purchased an HP touchscreen laptop in 2017 and I fired it back up after a few years to see if the screen quality was as hideous as this new one and if I had just been spoiled by the Apple but, no. The screen on the 2017 laptop was lightyears in screen clarity above this new laptop. In fact, I liked it way more than the Apple Air. I highly recommend spending the extra 50 to 100 bucks on a touchscreen model if you're going with HP. Also, there's not an option to light up the keyboard so you probably want to avoid this model if you're not proficient in keyboarding or just want that feature.
