I Started Them With a Ferro Rod
I cut off a 1/2" piece and shaved a little bit of a ferro rod onto it before striking it with the ferro rod, and it lit right up. The little piece burned for several minutes, and I feel like I could start a fire with wet wood in a pinch with these things if I had to. You could definitely use these for hiking to warm up your meal in the evening, and I didn't notice a lot of smoke, or smell if you don't want to be located because of a larger fire.

Perfect for camping
These fire sticks were great camping last weekend. I also received them exactly as promised with next day delivery which was helpful. They guaranteed my fire would get started ASAP and with a late arrival to camp a perfect way to start off the camping trip - knowing that I wouldn't have an issue getting my fire started and keeping it going. I have not yet used them in wet weather, but they were good with getting a fire started with damp (morning mist) wood. Best feature: size and won't fall apart too easily. Easy to carry camping, small and powerful.

As expected
These work well for starting a fire pit. Easily lit and last long enough for the purpose.

Works ok
These work ok, but not any better than any other product like this. The cardboard and wax fire starter seems to work better than this for me anyways. I got this for rainy days, but it has problems keeping up with the wet wood.

My absolute FAVORITE campfire starter!
10/10 these are hands-down amazing for starting campfires. I find one, snapped in half, is more than enough to light most things up. For ease of ignition, light them on the end that has been broken, hold it up until the flame takes hold, and then put it down inside where you intend to have the fire. The main advantage is these are sticks and it is easy to throw them in with your camping supplies without worrying about them breaking apart, leaking, etc. One stick is more than enough to boil at least 1 cup of water in an aluminum camping pot, in an emergency.

GoTo starter
I have been using these things for decades because they are inexpensive and they work. If you have ample kindling, just use half a stick.

you need these
these are a lifesaver in non ideal conditions. they burn long enough to help dry out the small stuff so it catches.

Ordered 12 pack got 11
Haven’t used them yet. But so far will avoid ordering them in the future as I paid for a12 pack and received an open pack with only 11 in it. No a huge big deal but it’s the little things that tell the bigger story.

Try them....
Was a bit unsure on these at first but having used them for a while they are actually very good when the weather is against you . you only need a third of a stick to get something going when things are a little damp . (they are quite economical) .work well in the little collapsing pocket wood burners if there is no dry stuff to hand . you only need carry a couple for those odd times but they can be very useful .

Excellent for fire starting
These are excellent.I've cut mine up into quarters and use 1 of those quarters for when it comes to starting a fire. They take a flame easily (frey them out a bit) and hold it really well. And yes, these are waterproof.

Works really well, a little bit goes a long way...
A little goes a long way. If the wood is dry split each fire starter stick in 1/2 or 1/4. Light the smaller amount. It burns long enough to light most fires. If the wood is wet use 1 or if necessary 2 sticks. If that doesn't work, either try, try, try again or cover your wood and try later...
