The Sno-Owl snow sensor is intended to be used in a system with a controller and snow melting heaters (electric or hot water). When the ambient temperature is 38F or below and precipitation is detected, the sensor signals the controller to turn on the heaters. The sensor remains ON for one hour after the snow stops for complete snow melting. The sensor's small size of 3 3/4" long and 1 3/4" diameter offers low visual impact. The housing is made from ASA plastic, a material used for automotive exterior trim applications. The sensor can be mounted on 3/4" PVC conduit or 1/2" NPT threads using the included adapter.
