CompTIA Security+ Get Certified Get Ahead: SY0-601 Study Guide

I passed using this book on my first try. Thank you Mr. Gibson (RIP). Udemy vidoes though good proved useless. Downloaded "cheat sheets". They were no good either. You dont need them. So here is what i did. Read the book completely once. Answered tests. Read it again. Answered tests again. Tests are good but not always fully capture all parts of the chapter. Read the chapter!. Here is how you know you are ready. When you answer a question and you know the answer is 'a' you should also know what choices b, c, d and e mean. That is how you know you are ready for the test. Again, take your time and read this book. Best of luck. I had to put my phone out of reach... i was wasting too much time on it.

I don't normally write reviews. But this book paired with a couple external practice exams just helped me pass my Security+ test! This was basically my only resource and I HIGHLY recommend it. It can be hard to read (as all I.T. books are) but there is good humor once and a while, solid real-life examples, and detailed explanations.Thanks for making this amazing resource!

I decided to purchase this book after reading the SY0-601 text published by McGraw Hill as an extra study guide. I love the way Darill has set the book up right from the beginning inside the introduction. His study tips he provides were helpful when I took the pre-assessment in the text. I scored a 81% on 75 questions, which it not bad considering I used to average 75% with other types of practice tests. I am excited to see how I will score on the post-assessment once I finish the text. As with any cert exam you are studying for, I would not recommend using just one study source such as a textbook. I also use online courses, labs, and refer to other sources of material in addition to my two textbooks. I have been working in IT security for a little over a year, and so far I can tell that Darrill explains concepts in a way that anyone new to the field can grasp if they use the text and other resources appropriately. I took the 501 test in 2019 and did not pass. I used the McGraw Hill text then. I wish I would have gone with Darril’s version of the book then because his pre- and post-assessment questions are similar to how questions are worded on the actual exam. I highly recommend.Good luck to all in your studies!!
