I needed to put in a water line for my new refrigerator. If you go to Home Depot or Lowes, they will give you a kit that has a valve that pierces your copper piping creating a seal. If you speak to any plumber, they will tell you that while easy, it will eventually fail. I know nothing about plumbing but was able to easily install this valve and the new water line. There is no need for soldering. Simply get this type of valve and a pipe cutter, and you are good to go. I highly recommend it.
