A full-fledged festival of phasing, La Calavera combines an offering to the more traditional effects of days gone by with the essence of rebirth and revolution. Wake the dead with a colorful celebration of vibrant vibes and multiple modes of modulation. Controls: Rate: Controls the rate of the low-frequency oscillator (LFO) for the phase shifter. In Envelope mode, the rate control sets the maximum speed. Intensity: Controls the maximum LFO sweep and the intensity of the phase shifter. Mix: Controls the blend between the dry and phased signal. Equal mix is at 12 o'clock. Hint: Vibrato effects are available with 100% wet mix. Tweak: This controls different parameters depending on the mode the pedal is in. See below for details. Mode Toggle: Suave: Smooth sounding ten-stage studio phaser, the Suave mode is wet and deep. The Tweak knob controls the amount of regeneration in the phase signal. This mode has a unique twist - when the Depth control gets high enough the oscillator waveform "folds back" into itself for a super-deep sweep. Dynámica: This mode puts the control in your hands, literally. The Tweak knob controls the sensitivity of the phaser to your guitar input volume, and the Rate knob sets the maximum phaser speed. Set the Rate below noon to increase speed with higher volumes, set above noon to decrease speed with louder signals. *Hint: Try Envelope mode mixed fully wet, with low Intensity for a volume sensing vibrato. Loco: This one is pretty crazy. The Tweak knob controls the feedback of the phase signal, and is linked to a ring modulator for some intense modulation effects. Might sound pretty gnarly, might sound pretty sweet.

Versatile and great sounding phaser
This is an extremely versatile and great sounding phaser, with possible settings from traditional to outrageous. The build and the design are also high quality and beautiful. It's clear that a lot of care went into this.

A complete and utter waste of money
I had high hopes for this pedal, although I had not previously bought anything by Alexander. To start with, the pedal was wired wrong out of the box so that the effect only came on when your foot came OFF the switch (not when your foot steps on the switch). All your guitar players know that this isn't going to work, timing-wise, when you're playing a show. I had to pay a trusted repairman to fix this, but immediately after that the power stage died. My repairman was very apologetic, but couldn't ultimately fix it. He said the failure cascaded into frying many other components. He also said that he reached out to the online boards of other gear repairmen, and got a lot of feedback saying that many had experienced different Alexander pedals with the same power stage problem, that led to ultimately just having to throw the pedal away (as I had to). A complete and utter waste of money. Never got to use it at all. I got such a long run-around from the people at Alexander that I eventually just had to give up on it. It was like lighting almost $200 on fire. So I will avoid all Alexander pedals in the future, needless to say!
