Speedhook Fishing Hook - When You Need To Catch a Fish, Trust Speedhook. Speedhook, which has a patented design trusted by the US Military in their survival kits, is the best tool to catch fish. Utilizing a spring loaded snare, the Speedhook is world renowned for setting a hook perfectly in a fish's mouth. That makes it a fantastic hook for pan fishing, ice fishing, and any other way you might need to catch fish! Speedhook is great for catch and release because of it's ability to set in a fish's mouth without extra damage. Because of the quick action release, Speedhook is incredibly effective - in one fishing contest the Speedhook creator defeated a fishing show host 84 to 4! Want to impress your friends? Look no further than the Speedhook and you too could be catching 80 fish in one day. Speedhook is so effective at catching fish that it is outlawed in some areas for use in non-survival circumstances (always check your local game laws before use). The US Department of Defense trusts Speedhook and has included it in Air Force Survival kits and has been sold to all branches of the military. For survival kits, why not trust what the military uses? Speedhook can be used on fish or small game, with or without a fishing pole. Small and compact, this is the one hook you need for your survival kit. When you just need to catch a fish or you want to impress your friend's with your fishing prowess, trust the hook so effective that some states have made it illegal: Speedhook. Nothing catches better.

Time invested into fish dinners = free meals...
I haven't even fished with these and I would buy a second pack just from the unboxing uplift of a quality product. This spring steel is resilient and its action is faster than the eye can see.- "It even works so well the package clearly states: "Illegal to use in the land of ten thousand lakes! (Minnesota)" -Arrives strung with line and hook and simple guide. The 'give' or 'play' in the reflexive wire allows for a lighter weight line to be attached to the hook and the 'slack' in the spring will recoil endlessly as a fish tires itself once hooked without concern of such light weight line being broken during the 'fight'. And you should Not be concerned with the leader line breaking, because if while catching pan fish, a "whale" immediately chomped your 'floundering' prospective dinner, the leader line will break and the Speedhook Will remain on your main line, undamaged and ready to be reused! win! win!

Mixed results
Great idea and I was able to try them out this past weekend. My results where mixed. On the first trip ice fisning, when fish took the bait the spring loaded speedhook went off every time, but out of 16 bites from fish only 2 fish where hooked. On the second trip three fish where hooked out of 9 strikes, here again the speedhook went off. This item does work and it may give you a slight advanvage if you are not attending your line. If you are tending your line I did not see much of an advantage. I think that for smaller fish this would work better, but for larger fish I was fishing for you may have to have a bit heavier spring.I will keep trying them and will post updates if I get better results.

I think it may be a good device in densely wooded areas
The idea is really neat. I haven't had much luck using the Speedhook. I think it may be a good device in densely wooded areas, where casting a rod can be a problem, and being able to tie this to a good rigid tree over the water would be where this might shine. When just hung from my fishing rod in a rod holder the energy of the hookset is mostly lost to drag in the water compounded with the easy flex of the rod tip. I'm not throwing these out, but they're going in the survival pack instead of the tackle box now.

Wow! Be careful or YOU might get caught!
These things are awesome! Especially when used with the fisher's yo-yo's... Set it (very carefully) & forget it! The hair trigger sets the hook (into fish, hands, etc) & the yo-yo tires the fish out!... It's a 24/7 system that is better than trot-lines or nets!... Well, for single fish catching!

Not quiet as effective as I had hoped
Not quiet as effective as I had hoped. I feel like with the normal setting, it would take a relatively strong bite to get the speedhook. After I adjusted it to make it more sensitive, the hook frequently sprang without any contact.

Great survival addition
Great survival addition. Haven't used yet, but easy to set up and seems like it would work as advertised.
