BRITISH LIONS formed in 1977 following the disbanding of MOTT-the nucleus of the group OVEREND WATTS, MORGAN FISHER, RAY MAJOR and DALE GRIFFIN combined with former MEDICINE HEAD main man JOHN FIDDLER and very swiftly recorded the debut album 'British Lions' re-released on Angel Air (SJPCD065). Following sessions for the BBC JOHN PEEL show British Lions then played support to STATUS QUO and AC/DC in the UK. The went to the USA where they opened for UFO and BLUE OYSTER CULT for a six week run, the tour was going well and MICHAEL SCHENKER from UFO made it clear that he was keen to join the Lions, who seemed to be going places. As the main USA tour drew to a close the band expected the tour to be extended but their management decided to return them to the UK to work on a follow up LP 'Trouble Wit Women' which had to be written, rehearsed and recorded on the double!
