Maze Runner: Chapter II - The Scorch Trials [Blu-ray] [2015] [4K UHD]

book>movie review
It was very opposite of the book, I still liked the movie, but everything was completely opposite. The cranks were overhyped and I was waiting for the line "where's my nose" that would've been creepy. I think the book has a better storyline and I'm thinking the third movie is going to continue with the opposite story line from the book. There was some glimpses from the book, but it didn't follow through. I still enjoyed it, the cinematography was excellent, the epic musicals kept me at the edge of my seat, this movie had way more running than the book, but still a pretty good movie after my read.

Nothing like the book
I absolutely understand that movies often differ from the books. But this has NOTHING to do with the book, other than names of characters. The acting is fine, but the storyline was poorly written. I’m all for action in movies - but this felt like overkill. I found myself fast forwarding quite often. The only reason I am finishing it is because I paid $3.99 to rent it and now I am invested. Like a bad Hallmark Christmas movie. It’s terrible, but you can’t turn it off. Side note, Game of Thrones must have been on a break from filming. You will see quite a few familiar faces.

Decent but not as good as the first
We watched the first Maze Runner and really enjoyed it so we wanted to watch the second one. I was a little disappointed because the story line wasn't as good as the first. I think it got a little out of touch with the original plot which is what got us hooked in the first place. In any case, if you like the Maze Runner series then obviously you have to watch it to complete the series, just don't feel too disappointed if it doesn't meet your expectations.

... Meh. :/
If you watch the movies without reading the books, they're pretty good and it's not too hard to understand the overall plot. However - if you've read the books (like myself), you'll be extremely disappointed to know that this 2nd movie isn't anywhere close to the original plot of the book. :(Movies aren't so bad, but I do wish they would've stuck to the story more. I was looking forward to actually seeing "the scorch" and all the other crazy stuff that actually happened.

No Spoilers just Enthusiastic Enjoyment
Watching this, Loved it & didn't get the bad reviews. Then the ending. If I saw this when it came out & had to wait 3 years for a cliffhanger, I'd hate it too.Luckily, I didn't have to wait but, it was a dirty thing to do.Kind of like Amazon waiting years to release S.2 of Undone, with Rosa Salazar who plays Brenda.See? There was a tie-in. The minute I saw her thought "C'mon. Give me more 'Undone' "So if you watched 'Maze Runner' and are debating do you want' Scorch' & 'Death'?The answer is Yes. It's a Trilogy. Each sequence is necessary & really good in it's own right. They are good enough to watch again & again so if you can get a Buy deal, go for it.No Spoilers. Just some Friendly Encouragement. If you want to know The Why to 'Maze' & See the Battle with WCKD heighten 'Scorch' is a Must. It's So Darn Good if you like suspense & action like 'The Mummy'.Plus, it's got Patricia Clarkson (Sharp Objects) & A Battle is only as Good as The Villain.

My wife was ready to turn it off at about the 30 minute mark
I've read the three books and seen the first movie. I have to preface this review by saying I really didn't care for the second book, either. The film does divert somewhat from the book storyline, but only inasmuch as to drop any interesting parts of the book and leave all the running-away-from-zombies parts. All of the mystery and charm of the original is lost. This movie isn't about the interactions between the characters, it's not about teamwork or coming together to solve a problem -- it's about the characters constantly running away from danger. Whereas the first movie gave people who weren't into horror some character interaction to enjoy, this one just comes off like a low-budget horror movie. It's like someone else wrote the sequel. On the positive side, if you haven't watched the first film, you could probably jump straight into this one, as nothing in the first film really seems to have mattered.

Terrible.
Man. Where do I start? My mother always taught me to say good things first. The only good thing in the whole movie: Newt, Minho, and Thomas actually look like what they're supposed to.The bad stuff:1. The director literally just took the characters and setting and threw them in a blender. It is nothing like the book. AT. ALL.2. These kids need to learn how to hold flashlights. I know you're running from a bunch of cranks, but at least turn it off to save the battery. Common sense!3. They made the cranks past the Gone look like decaying zombies. That is not how they are supposed to look. They are supposed to look injured. I think the special effects team just overdid it so that it was so bloody it was corny.4. They made them not all immune. Like, Newt is supposed to be the only one not immune, but apparently Winston is too. And a whole bunch more.5. Brenda is annoying, and very, very, very not how she is supposed to be.6. A whole bunch of other things. Honestly, just save your money. It's a lot cheaper. Go watch something else. Seriously.

Lots of running....mazes.
The Scorch TrialsThe gang start out being rushed out of the facility they had made it to in the last movie. They are rushed to a new facility which promises to be a refuge from the Big Bad Wicked. But are they safe, really? That's the maze part of the movie as the characters have to find their way through the disguises and deceptions that make up their world. This wasn't a great movie but it was fast moving and kept me on the edge of my seat.It is also forgettable. Halfway through the movie, I realized I had seen it before, which says how unmemorable the film was.

Film is actually more of a 3.8 stars, but for the "go" man acting.
Plot was simple and interesting. Think it's been done before though? No spoilers from me about the plot.I only gave it 3 stars because from almost the outset, the annoying lead started dashing round, leading his group with the constant shout of..."go go go go go". He simply couldn't say anything else. I remember one scene when there was no panic to get moving, but even then with no urgency required, he said "go go go".The film became the "go" film. However, the others did a great job around him and the film deserves 4 stars. This go/go/......go lark was stopped in the next film.

Better Than The First One
Better than the first film, & the story opens up a little bit more. Had a scene in it reminiscent of a recurring nightmare of mine; scared the pants off of me! It's a bit silly & unbelievable in places, but is fun entertainment nonetheless. I'm looking forward to the third installment. Let's just hope that they don't split it into two parts & mess it up in the process (*cough* The Divergent Series *cough*).

disappointed
disappointed i have read the books and yes i know most films are not as good as the books. However this one if it wasn't for the title i wouldn't even have known it was based on the second book in the series. The story really didn't make any sense and whats this about Thomas being the source for the right arm.

Good sequel
I really enjoyed the maze runner film and so decided to order the sequel. I really enjoyed this too. If anything it’s a little more scary than the Maze Runner, especially if you don’t like Zombies. Not going to fill my review with spoilers. Suffice to say if you like Maze Runner then you will enjoy this. It’s face moving with plenty of action and the main characters are further developed. An enjoyable couple of hours.

Enjoyable.
I thought this was a really entertaining movie and much better than then first. I haven't read the books so can't say how well it represents them but its fast paced and good fun, if a little predictable. You really need to have watched the first film to understand what's going on, and it should come up with "to be continued...." at the end but enjoyable none-the-less.Great picture in 4K HDR but the image quality isn't noticeably any better than 1080p
