Quick setup, no frills networked irrigation timer.
Despite my reservations given the low ratings on this product, I decided to give it a try and have been pleased. It has more zones per $ and was easy to setup. I didn't want a device like the Rancho that relied on the cloud. Since many network connected sprinkler timer companies are still upstarts or smaller companies, I wanted to protect against the company going out of business: I wanted my device to still work. There are cloud features that may not function, but in general the key features work from the actual device.Unlike many IOT device, the LCD display is genius. You know by looking at it what its IP address is and can point your browser to it accordingly. It took me less than 20 mins to unwire my old unit and connect and mount to this one. In another 10 minutes, I had it configured and was turning zones on and off.Out of the box, it doesn't take internet based weather reports to adjust watering, but that's fine by me. It has options to attach rain gauge and flow meter sensors from the output of the irrigation. All things I couldn't care less about. I just wanted a no frills network based irrigation timer and this is it.There's an app for the iPhone and it looks like you can use their proxy service to connect back if you're behind a home router/firewall. I can VPN into my network, so I didn't try these features because I can directly connect to it.The interface is easy to use. It is WAY better than the non-intuitive dial/button garbage most timers consists of. You can configure 5 programs, each with ability to specify watering days. Each program can have up to 5 start times. You can also name each of your zones so they're easy to identify.I was sheepish about installing this outside since I'm not sure how rugged it is. I ended up running wires into the house and hanging it in a utility room. All in all, I'd buy this again in a heartbeat. I'll write back if this thing fails pre-maturely.

Full featured, Expandable Irrigation controller
If you are looking for a web enabled sprinkler controller, I strongly recommend this unit. Once you get this unit installed, it uses your wireless internet connection to provide you a full featured user interface which is easy to use. It provides up to 11 zones (10 if you need a "master" control signal) which is expandable. I like this unit because it provides a local web server, meaning you can access the unit from your local network as well as through an external web portal provided by Irrigation Caddy (Which means you don't have to ever depend on Irrigation Caddy alone.)There is a *free* application for your android (and I assume apple devices too) which I like. It provides both local access when you are at home and cloud access to your controller. The application doesn't have all the same features as the controller directly, but it sure works great if you want to change your watering schedule or view your controller's status when you are not home.I will warn you about one thing. This little wonder is a beast to get set up and you really need to follow the instructions they give to the letter. They don't really tell you, but you are going to need a laptop and a network cable for the setup. I suggest you do the network setup before you fully install the controller. It's easier to do this on the kitchen table than trying to use a laptop in some utility closet or garage. The good news is that you only have to do this once so if you can get past this part, I'm sure you will be pleased with your controller. For the money, this unit does a great job. Actually, I don't know of a better unit at any cost.

Great product made in the US
This is my second Irrigation Caddy product. Two years ago I purchased via Amazon the S1 version and now the IC-W1. I find them a terrific, well engineered, and reasonably priced product. I purchased the IC-W1 as I desired to manually control the system from the controller (in my garage). It took a few tries and yes reading the on-line instructions, but it is great overall as it adds the measure of flexibility I wanted. This is a small US company and deserves to succeed with its excellent products - I highly recommend it. I do have it hard wired to the internet but the Wi-Fi seemed to also work. If your location is removed from your house you should expect less than perfect connectivity with any device.

Do not buy, not reliable.
I have had this unit for ~3 weeks. In that time, it has demonstrated no ability to remain connected to the wifi for longer than 1-2 minutes. I am planning to return it to Amazon for a refund.Problems;- Drops off wifi within 2-3 minutes of being powered on. Never returns. Testing signal from the device, the IC-W1 sits around -71dBm while a comparable device is sitting at -57dBm right next to it. After it loses signal, the IC-W1 never tries to reconnect. The picture below is all you'll see after it is connected.- Timing on program run length is insane. Set it for 5 minutes, it runs for 15. Set it for 8 minutes, it runs for 3. Something is very buggy with this product.

Use another product instead.
Junk. The unit often needs to be reset because it is off in the weeds. The webpage served by the unit and the app provided to control the unit are both very slow and a bit of a kludge to use. Often you will change s setting, hit save, and wonder if the setting actually applied. 1/3 of the time the setting you just set did not apply.Randomly, Program 1 turns itself off and must be turned back on once you notice your lawn not being watered.More often than not, I am unable to connect when I want to control the system. A random sequence of closing and reopening the app sometimes allows me to get back in.Just utter junk for a product that's been around for as long as this has.

This is a crappy smart wifi controller
This is a crappy smart wifi controller. There is no existing customer support. The interface is terrible and glitchy and not really user friendly. Tried contacting customer support and all I got was a ticket and nothing else. Tried following up but no response. Stay away from this product.
