High Quality Playmat
I would probably rate this a 4.5, if that was an option. Please be aware this a thin mat. The dimensions are shared, but I didn't pay attention. We originally purchased this for our living room which has a very hard tile floor. We were going to return it, but once we reorganized our bedroom we share with my 7 month old, there was a lot of floor space and this fit the area between our bed and his crib perfectly. We also have faux-wood flooring with a cushion between it and the cement, so the thickness is not an issue. Great for these floors, carpet, outdoors, and probably for hardwoods as well. I would not use it alone on tiles or concrete.PROS:Great material! Actually natural and non-toxic, unlike so many that make such a claim. It should be illegal to sell anything but to children, but until it is, we have mats like the Kutchu, and it is one of the better options.Grippy - for both the child's bum/hands/knees/feet, and also the surface it lays on.Lightweight and relatively portable (it's like a long yoga mat), but heavy enough to stay firmly in place. The green is a pretty color; the purple side reminds me too much of Barney, lol. But having two different color options is also useful to keep track of which side you want to keep clean and unscuffed on the inside and which side you mind less.Great size! Baby has lots of room to do its thing.Cons:Attracts dirt and other things somewhat easily. I use a section or 2 from a sticky lint remover to palm up the debris (dog hair, dirt that was tracked in).Thin. As I said, it works fine for the surface we have it on now, but it would be great to have thicker options. A site that reviewed it said it was like a thick yoga mat, but that's not accurate. It's about as thick as the average Manduka, maybe even a bit thinner. A thicker version would basically render this mat perfect, imo.So yes, overall, I recommend this playmat!

Get a couple of good yoga mats instead
Don't order the Kutchu play mat thinking you can return it to amazon if you loathe it. The advertisement may promise "free returns," but amazon only pays $3.99 worth of postage. I took the mat in its box to the post office and was told that the least expensive shipping method would cost $46. In other words, it will cost you $42 to return this mat when you decide you don't like it.The amazon description fails to mention that the Kutchu play mat is not intended for outdoor use and cannot be subjected to direct sunlight. The description also does not mention that you cannot vacuum the mat or allow your dog or cat to walk on it. Here is an excerpt from the label on the packaging:"Do not soak the mat, use soaps, detergents and other cleaning products, or use a vacuum cleaner on the KUTCHU play mat, as these can damage the play surface and affect its safety.""The KUTCHU play mat is intended only for indoor use, on a flat, hard floor surface. Keep your KUTCHU play mat out of direct sunlight as it may cause the rubber to break down. Keep pets off to avoid scratches and damage to the play surface. [...] When not in use, roll up the play mat and put it away. Store horizontally and avoid folding as it can cause stretching."The mat is clearly fairly flimsy. Mine was packaged as if new and labeled "inspected by amazon," but a chunk was gouged out of the material on arrival. This is amazon's fault, not the manufacturer's, since the purchase was fulfilled by amazon. However, the fact that the mat was damaged on arrival illustrates how flimsy it is.The description compares the Kutchu play mat to a yoga mat, but this mat is so lightweight that I would not accept it as a yoga mat. If you want a nontoxic natural latex rubber mat, you'd do better to purchase a couple of solid yoga mats such as Manduka and lay them down side by side. After the Kutchu arrived and I discovered it was not the quality I was expecting, I did a price comparison and calculated that a Manduka yoga mat would cost about $7 per square foot while at full price the Kutchu mat costs about $6.80 per square foot. I put my Manduka down on the floor next to the Kutchu for the baby to play on and observed that the edges of the Manduka are so heavy that they remain in place, while the Kutchu wrinkles up when the baby crawls onto it.

Had to throw the mat away after a year.
We wanted to love this mat for a very long time however it's lack of versatility made it basically unusable after it got wet from dew outside and dried. We don't have the softest grassy yard so we would bring the playmate outside to use for the baby. The rubber started disintegrating and coming apart in tiny pieces once it got wet. We had to throw this mat away. Very disappointed.

I found it it was very sticky like yoga mat
I ended up not using this as an every day play mat. I found it it was very sticky like yoga mat, which made it hard for my daughter to get her knees under herself. She is learning to crawl and this did not assist with that. Good for baby once mobile, but it is expensive for what it is.

Good, but thin.
I really like this mat, the strong smell from the rubber eventually faded and it's a good size. The only downside is that it is a bit too thin to provide protection from falls on hard floors. If it were thicker it would be perfect!

Great mat :)
We really like this mat we got for our baby. She uses it for tummy time and laying around on her back. We use it on a wooden floor so the fact that it is pretty thin is not so bad and we also use another mat on top of it because it pads it some more, its feels nicer and the mat attracts dirt so this prevent it. The smell wasn't bad at all when we got it and went away quickly. This is the other mat we use on top:Thick Cotton Baby Crawling Mat Cute Elephant Play Carpet Children Bedroom Decor Living Room Rugs by IHEARTYOU https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0711JDXTP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_t8w9zb3V8GWRA

Just a really big yoga mat. Very heavy. It also smells really badly, it's not going away either. I don't trust this with my baby.

I knew this mat was thin, but I didn't ...
I knew this mat was thin, but I didn't think it would be THIS thin. For the $160 price tag it should really be 4x as thick. Since it really is the only fully non toxic option out there, no choice but to keep it - but def a ripoff
