This pen is great for small projects, and is lightweight so you can use it for an extended period of time without getting tired. I like that it comes with a variety of tips that are easy to switch out. Heats up fairly quick. I used it on wood chips that were about 1/2” thick, and it did well.

While I enjoyed using the tool, the handled gets very very hot. I had to stop and cool it down after about four minutes.

3D pens are super fun and having something like this wood burning tool to smooth, texture and reshape the plastic makes it possible to create some amazing sculptures. The temperature control is a must if you are going to use the burner on plastics. I like to work with PLA filament in my 3D pen, so the melting point is relatively low- meaning a regular wood burning tool will burn the holy hades out of your creations, leaving scorch marks everywhere while smoking and stinking like mad.i like the selection of tips that came with the burner as well. I’ve seen a few reviews on YouTube of people saying wood burning tools don’t smooth the filament well, but I disagree. They work beautifully. It’s all about using the right tip for the job and knowing how to use the tool well enough to make it do what you want. And I cannot stress enough the importance of that temperature control.

This kit seems solid in size but with the nature of brass I always do lead testing. Unfortunately these particular tips tested positive for lead right when my project came around and unfortunately I wasn't quick enough in time for the return window. Lead poisoning is a valid fear in this day and age but just imagine the fumes you would be inhaling regardless of proper PPE and ventilation with lead filled brass! It's going to be a no for me

Bought this tool to help with cutting burlap mesh for wreaths. Tool worked very well.
