My favorite throwers!
About 2 years ago I bought a set of Eagle Eye 6 inch throwing knives, I had fun with them but felt like something heavier would be better, so I got the Eagle Eye large set, they were either 8 or 10 inches long, sorry I dont remember which, anyways they were noticably nicer to throw, so that made me think something even heavier would be even nicer, so I got ONE Cold Steel Sure Balance. Wow, does that knive throw nice, a talk about sticking! That Sure Balance sticks with some authority! I now have 6 Cold Steel Sure Balance throwing knives, I only throw them, and I never throw any of my other knives anymore. I even have a set of the Hibben large Competition Triple Thrower Set w/Leather, but as much as I wanted to love these knives, they just dont throw as good as the Cold Steel Sure Balance. I highly recommend these Cold Steel Knives, oh yeah, another thing about them, they are a high carbon steel, and I throw in my garage alot, so on occation I have the knive falling onto the cement floor, now with my other knives, that would mess up the tips when they would hit the cememt, but these Cold Steel Sure Balance knives hold a edge and point like crazy! I was very impressed with the quality of the steel. Great knives, worth the money.

it is exactly what you want in a BIG throwing platform
For the record I am not a circus professional knife thrower... Personally I think it is not smart to throw a weapon at the two legged varmints becase they can pull it out and use it on you...(this was taught to me by an Angel who's been in many a knife scuffle) But in a hunting/survival situtation or perhaps the zombie apocalypse Throwing a knife at a target or critter without the skill set(zombies) or opposable thumbs (any other critter you might be able to get close enough to throw this chunk of steel at.) It could also be lashed to a stick for a spearhead it is pretty tough steel.I have to admit though it is pretty much the coolest thing to "Thunk" this baby into a wooden target...It is all around family fun with my two boys, wife and even my 10 year old little girl gets in on the action. Yes a family affair. We teach them to survive being battle born and bred Alaskans...Exactly as advertised! Great thrower extremely tough steel...This WILL disintegrate concrete cinder blocks if you miss the wood target so be careful out there! Yes the steel is that tough!Check out the video of it on cold steel's website.

Great knives for a advanced thrower
These knives at first glance really seem good, and they are in fact very nicely built. The biggest problem I could see people having with them is the fact that they are not really intended for novice throwers. The knives themselves are just to big and to sharp. These knives are equally balanced meaning you can use the spin, and no spin techniques without much of a issue. Personally I would recommend the no spin for these monsters. I have a large hand and therefore I can throw from the handle or blade and throw with or without a spin. However for someone with smaller hands a good spin technique would be near impossible. I think that these knives are great for a experienced throw since they are so flexible in how you can throw them and have just about the right amount of carbon in their steel so that they are hard, but not brittle.I stress again however these knives are not for beginners, or in some cases even a moderately experienced thrower. If you want some good starter knives go with something smaller. Try for something in the 8 inch range, and preferably under a pound. Go with leaf blades, similar to this one, look it up on google there are plenty of picks out there. These knives are also pretty expensive for someone just starting out. Early on in your knife throwing career you should invest money in a decent sized pine wood target while buying moderately priced knives. Your first knife set should try to shoot for under 50 bucks. 6 knives is generally considered a set.

Great knife for the price especially if you are willing ...
Great knife for the price especially if you are willing to put some time into working on it. I have spent several months throwing this, a Condor dismissal, and a Gil Hibben's competition triple thrower set and this is probably my favorite. The Condor is a little easier to stick when spinning but this isn't far behind. It is an awesome weight. I enjoyed this knife so much that I stripped off the baked on black protective coating and used perma blue to blue the high carbon steel. Now my cheap $20 awesome throwing knife looks like a $200 Cresent Knifeworks knife. It was a one night project and well worth the effort!

woah...
finally! a knife that literally knock someone over on impact!! point in or no, that poor b****rd is going down.. on a serious note, cold steel does it again! great steel, great balance (for a mass produced thrower) but unless youre planning on competing... this thing is huge, wicked huge. "Should i plant a garden with it??" huge. "should i throw it at the zombies face? or bash his skull in with???" huge.unless you plan on practicing long distance (15+ft) this knife is excessive to say the least. i bought some hard wood boards about an inch thick and this sucker started splitting it within a few dozen throws (granted i had 5 other knives of varying sizes i was also testing out). great for feeling out the "no spin" throw but im very glad i didnt go nuts and by 6 of these clunky things.that being said, 5 stars, totally worth it. just make sure your target is solid enough to handle this beast!

Good size and weight
Good size and weight. Appear to be stamped out of 1055 steel. I had to file tips to remove the soft edge. after filing the tips did not roll over even with rough treatment. I think they may have over heated during grinding. Inconsistent size and edge grind between the three. The tip did not line up with center on any of the three. The faults indicate lower quality control, but that is indicative of lower costs. All in all I think it is a good practice knife for the cost.

Solide impact
