These microscopic organisms destroy pests that live underground. They will seek out and destroy more than 230 different kinds of soil dwelling and wood boring insects, including Japanese beetles, cut worms, wire worms, weevils, white grubs, fungus gnat larvae, flea larvae, subterranean termites, and many more. They are so small that several thousand would fit on the head of a pin! But they do a big job --moving through the ground, they enter the body cavities of their target pests and release bacteria that kill that pest. They are completely safe for people, pets, and the environment, and are compatible with other beneficial insects. Each container includes seven million live beneficial nematodes. Restricted state: Hawaii

Amazon was NOT helpful and VERY hard to REACH!
This is not the right nematodes to kill grubs. They were not packaged with an icepack so the were D.O.A. after 14 DAYS!!! Amazon said 3-5 days! When I called the company they were nice but I explained they were not the right nematodes. After finally finding Amazon's number I explained what happened they said they would send me another package within 3 days with an icepack. Theirs never showed up for over a week but meantime the company sent me one within 3 days. They did not work anyway. I am very disappointed with this transaction!

Shipping may kill the beasties!
Ordered the product on a Monday, got partial delivery on Wednesday. Since I have Prime I get 2-day free shipping. It took an extra day for them (Amazon fulfilled) to pull it off the shelf and it came today, Thursday. Beneficial nematodes are temperature sensitive so I was worried that too much time in transit or sitting on the truck would subject the little beasties to swings in temperature that might kill them. (Its June for gosh sakes!) I've been waiting by the door for the UPS guy and sure enough I got to the little box within minutes of delivery. I had good reason to be concerned 'cause I popped it open the tiny box and the little plastic tub inside was WARM to the touch! Got those babies in the 'fridge for a cool down and I sure hope that they aren't dead! That would be a total waste of my money, It would have been better if this product was at least double boxed to offer some insulation. Better yet, a cool pack included or even an option to buy some protection! I can't really review the product till I use them in the garden, or find a microscope to look at them closely. I will revisit this review once I have confirmation one way or the other. But beware, you may not get what you pay for! In the meantime I'm going to post to the manufacturer's Facebook page about this experience.UPDATE: I applied the nematodes 2 days after receiving them. I followed the directions and while they were "steeping" in the bucket of water, I took a sample to look at under the microscope. It was thick with the wrigglers! Even after I applied them and had diluted them, I took another sample. They were at least 1.5 hours on the slide and I did see some dead ones, but there were still lots of them left alive. So the transit time and the trip on the hot UPS truck didn't kill them. If it had been any hotter than 75 outside, they may not have fared so well. Now, lets hope that this strain (Steinernema feltiae)gets its job done. One thing I have learned about nematodes is that this strain is an "ambusher" they lay in wait for their prey to come by. The other strain is a hunter-seeker and actively seeks out its prey. Next time I'll find a blended batch.UPDATE: Its been 2 growing seasons since the beneficial nematodes were applied. I will say that there have been fewer dirt dwelling pests in my garden! That has meant more successful plant starts and I believe the beasties have made a real difference!

Not sure they helped
I bought these to help control an infestation of cucumber beetles and cut worms. Applied as directed in the spring and kept things nice and moist as suggested. I can't say that things might not have been worse if we had not used them, but we sure did still have a problem with both the worms and beetles. I'd like to convince myself that these things actually help, and all that I've read says they should, but we did not discern any significant improvement over the problem we had last year. We'll give them another try, maybe from a different supplier.

Only used one, and it was really hot. It says 'keep out of direct sun', which is rather IMPOSSIBLE in a yard. I watered almost daily (it's really hot and sunny here in Texas). I think many died, but I have more in the fridge and plan to put them out again on some spots when the weather is cooler. However, I do think the ones that lived are happy in the yard and are busy doing whatever it is that they do.

Absolutely works, great solution for organic gardeners
If you have fungus gnats, root aphids, or any number of other soil-dwelling pests attacking your indoor or outdoor plants, and are looking for a chemical-free solution, this is it. It has worked for me every time, and has always completely eliminated the problem. I just can't imagine why all the gardening forums I've seen suggest pesticides when nematodes have always been a completely foolproof and safe solution for me.I won't even consider having an indoor Winter garden without them.

Had bought this for cat flea control, and to improve my garden soil. When package arrived, it was NOT in the box pictured, but was in a cheap plastic container (like cottage cheese) with a cheap homemade label attached to it. Applied as directed. Saw ZERO effect on fleas. Within 2 weeks of application, my tomatoes stopped growing and stopped setting fruit. My chard started dying out. When I pulled my tomato plants at end of season, roots were heavily infested with root knot nematodes. Now I can not say for sure that these were bad nematodes, but based on the results I highly suspect it. I would advise you NOT to use this product from this supplier

Improper packaging
Nematodes are living creatures and they must be packed with dry ice to keep cool, at least in high summer. This package was at least 85 degrees when it showed up at my home. The instructions say to refrigerate or keep below approximately 70 degrees. I sent it back immediately and purchased from a local garden shop instead.

it seems to have worked
I used these in combination with grub killer to get rid of a mole. The mole is gone but the weather also cooled down a lot right after so I can't say for sure how well these worked. I'm sure they at least contributed!

Buyer beware
Nothing received in package, no clue what happened. Must be a scam as this product is supposed to be refrigerated and has an expiry date.
