Thoroughly enjoyable
Great characters with a bit of history and thought provoking story that included a mystery to figure out. The story goes back and forth from the 1920s to 1995 which was a great way to tell this story.

Love for Sandalwood and Vanilla
I really want to smell the sweet aroma of Sandalwood and Vanilla at the conclusion of this fun mystery! Such a sincere but fun and intricate story of two different times in young girls lives in Soho London. I really enjoyed the POV change from the 1920s to the 1990s...how the grandmother in the 20s collide on so many levels and similar situations to the granddaughter in the 90s. The unfolding of the history of the families and how they were intertwined with an onslaught of clues that lead to ultimately a story untold to present day destiny.

BRAVO!
Such a great read! The history! The detail! The mystery! The love stories! I want to go there and see all the locations - but at the same time, I feel like I’ve just been there! Lisa Jewell is one of my faves and this one definitely helped cement that even more! BRAVO!

Before I Met You
What a fantastic story! I loved every chapter from the first one on.. it's such a different story than what Lisa Jewell usually writes, but I certainly hope it isn't the last. The characters and storyline were interesting, intriguing and exciting. I wanted to be there with Betty to find out what was next. So well done, I laughed and cried which is all the feelings you want from a good novel!! I can't wait for the next book from her!

An engaging story with lots of surprises
This book was emotional and very heartwarming at times. Arlette’s chapters retracing her life in London as a young woman in the 1920’s were fascinating, to say the least. I was disappointed the author choose to make Gideon one of the bad guys because his 180 personality change came out of nowhere and was confusing. Betty’s incredible perseverance to find the truth about Arlette’s past was a page turner and full of surprises. I don’t think there could have been a better ending to this story because all the pieces finally fit the puzzle of Arlette’s life and in the end, Betty made the smartest and best choice regarding who to love in her own life.

Life in London
This is a delightful book about a young girl from Guernsey who goes to London after caring for her ailing grandmother for most of her teenage years. She wants to live in Soho where she thinks it will be exciting and she also wants to track down someone that her grandmother mentioned in her will. The book seamlessly goes back and forth between Betty's modern day story and her grandmother's story in the 20s. I really enjoyed both stories and thought that the author did a great job in meshing both parts of the novel together. I did get bogged down a bit in Betty's story but overall, this was a fun book and made me want to read more books by this author.
