Long-Term Reviews Matter
I bought and self-installed this pump back in Oct 2022. Its hard to find good long term reviews as most people do them in the first couple of weeks. Install I thought was very easy(and this was the first pool pump I've ever installed)... I love the screw on compression connections, makes it very easy for later maintenance which im getting to soon. Electrical couldnt be more simple as a swap out(I am experienced with electrical though). This replaced an old Heyward 2HP that was here when I bought the house... for me this XtremePower 2HP runs stronger than the Heyward did, but I also think someone rebuilt the Heyward as some of the part #'s didnt match up. Regardless, I have a huge pool, and when the cartridge filter is clean, this pump cycles my water like a boss... so strong that the cheap old vacuum that was left here was getting stuck to the bottom of the pool(new vac fixed that, but the Heyward was never strong enough to do that).LONGTERM - It's been 1.5 years and this week the pump motor was running but i had very little water movement...My first thought(specially based on some other reviews) was that this low cost pump was dying. But before replacing it I needed to at least pull it out and give it a maintenance look since the motor was still running. My one knock on this unit is there is a fence on the Strainer Housing between the Pump Cover and the Impeller... so getting to the impeller with a screwdriver to see if its plugged is not an option, you have to disassemble it. I removed the pump, which again was super easy due to the screw on fittings, and electric again easy to remove. Im so glad i took the time to do this, I removed the Strainer Housing(6 bolts), removed the Pump Cover(2 screws), and exposed the Impeller. Sure enough after 1.5 years of debris, enough hardy small leaves from my shrubs snuck in there and clogged the impeller. At first I was a little angry I needed to do all this just to unclog the impeller, but I think after doing it, it was a blessing. I was able to clean all these parts with soap and water, including 3 of the o-rings( I didnt use lubricant as the manual stresses not too). After cleaning and putting it back together the pump looked brand new, and is once again performing as good as it did day 1... no leaks, no issues, great power. So, with a little care and maintenance Im hoping to get another year or 2 out of this little trooper... maybe more!!! well worth the money, specially being a lower cost unit. One other note, motor runs hot, and if left in the desert sun it might get hot enough to open up some sort of black hole or time/space continuum haha... be sure to keep this little gem in the shade, he deserves some comfort for all his hard work! Hope this helps.

Value
Ive had quite a journey with pool pumps! Transitioning from a known brand like Hayward to a lesser-known or generic brand is always a gamble, but it’s great to know that a new $219 variable speed pump is performing well so far. Some highlights and a few important points for anyone in a similar situation: 1. Cost Efficiency: Sometimes, lower-cost alternatives can perform just as well as high-end models. Saving $1700 while still achieving satisfactory performance is a significant win. 2. Installation and Performance: The ease of installation and the pump’s performance over a week are promising indicators of its quality. If it continues to function well throughout the season, it might even surpass my expectations and be a reliable part of my pool system for years to come. 3. Brand Reliability: While brand loyalty can be strong, sometimes it’s worth exploring other options, especially if previous experiences have been disappointing. 4. Risk vs. Reward: My decision to try a new brand with the mindset that it only needs to last through the season to be a success is a pragmatic approach. It mitigates the risk and sets a realistic expectation.Good Luck

AWFUL PRODUCT RUN AWAY!
If I give zero stars- I would! I purchased this June 2023, and right from the start we noticed it was LOUD! (Will post video of us starting up) and we are opening this year (May 2024) and it was louder than last season . I inquired and explained the problem- on day 2…it died! And the company that says there’s a one year warranty, gave the run around, saying they couldn’t find a warranty card, but I sent it- I always do on any purchase! Then they asked 2 times for proof of purchase (I sent pic from Amazon showing the purchase date) so THEN they wanted a bill from an installer …but 99% of us install these ourselves, which we did!! And they said “sorry, without a warranty card and installer receipt- we can’t help” but we already ordered one from a reputable company and purchased an EXTENDED warranty! Lesson learned ! We live I. A world of snakes that won’t even stand by their product! No wonder, it’s NOT worth standing by! Awful pump listen to how loud in video!!!!!

Pretty Good Pump
Had this pump now for a year. I waited a year to write this review for a specific reason. Prior to this pump I had a Hayward 2 speed pump ($$$$$) that lasted a whopping 3 years. Hayward pumps are pricey and don’t seem to last. So we decided to try this pump. Here is what we found:You will have to re-plumb your pump and slightly adjust some of the piping locations; this pump does not have the same dimensions as a Hayward. This pump does not have the power of the Hayward that I had; both are rated the same though. However, this pump definitely has enough power to run my pool vac, skimmer, and filter and keep the pool clean. This pump is definitely a lot quieter than the Hayward pump. Even on high speed. This pump is a LOT cheaper than a Hayward pump. I figured if I could get this pump to last a year, my costs would be even with the Hayward. Even having to replace this one annually (which I have not had to do so far) would be slightly cheaper than a Hayward that only lasts 3 years. If this pump lasts 2 years I will make out like a bandit compared to the Hayward.I don’t have hard numbers to back it up but my electric bill is lower since I installed this pump. Of course many things can affect that bill.Overall so far this pump is a big win for us. The only drawback is the slightly less power than the Hayward but for the cost I can overlook that.We are running this pump @ 240v with a 2 speed controller (not the built in switch on the pump).

Works Great!
Installed 3 weeks ago it’s now 4/6/2024 and still working. Installation: I have had to buy 2” PVC pie, glue, elbows, 2 anchors est. cost $50. Drilled 2 new holes anchored pump, cut PVC and glued. I have 220 followed instruction 2 hot wires and ground very simple straight forward total time for installation 4-5 hours, I took my time. Primed pump as instructed fired up pump No leaks! I was really happy. I like the 2-speed Low and High-speed options. At low speed you can barely hear the pump running and that is the setting I have been using on the daily filtering at 6 hours a day. At high speed you can hear the pump running like the other pool pumps I have had in the past 30 years having a pools. When cleaning my pool, I set the pump on high works great when I need to vacuum the bottom of the pool. The motor seems to be running hot on low but this could be normal I don’t know what the outside motor casing temp should be if anyone knows please let us know in your comments. Over all the project was simple straight forward, I took my time re-read the instruction took one item, worked one item at a time. So fare I don’t regret buying this pump or the money spent, and happy on saving money on this DIY project. I will follow-up on this review and my expectation is that this motor/pump works for the next 5-7 years.
