Thomas Nast Cartoons [Classic Anthology]

What an utter waste! A thin book for the price and all the illustrations are badly scanned and printed. I actually doubt the publisher had access to original materials to scan as the images look as if someone grabbed low-resolution pixelated images off the internet. Total waste of money and a completely worthless book. Whoever is responsible has lacks judgement or scruples because this is an insult to paper.If you love Thomas Nast then avoid this like a disease.

Thomas Nast was a brilliant cartoonist with an unusual ability to present political ideas in an understandable fashion. This collection of his works shows not only the changing mood of the country on controversial issues, but he reveals his own changing attitudes on those issues. The only thing wrong with the anthology is that some of his greatest cartoons were left out because of space limitations.

A little disappointed! Not much there! To show off Nasts great style!

I feel stupid for not having looked at the review before making this pathetic purchase. As the previous comment said this book is thin and contains images so blurry that you can barely read the captions (you actually can't on several of the pictures). There is absolutely NO explanation attached to these cartoons and they aren't even organized in any particular manner. Waste of money. Don't buy it. Only positive was that it came a day after I ordered it.

A wonderful history of NYC. A must read for those interested in the subject. Perfectly written. A pleasure to read.
