Hi quality with great picture and audio quality
I’ve been waiting for Foscam to bring out a doorbell so I could use my Foscam NVR to record 24/7 so was pleased to see it finally being released in the U.K.I replaced a previous installed doorbell made by a major CCTV manufacturer and the Foscam is far superior especially the night vision.Installation was easy and there is everything you need to install if you have suitable existing wiring if not you’ll need to purchase a power supply. It is even supplied with wedges so you can adjust the doorbell to the perfect angle, these are normally an extra with other makes. The 5Ghz Wifi connection is very stable and fastI did have a problem with the motion detection notifications not sending but this was quickly resolved with a firmware update after contacting Frank at Foscam customer servicesI have been using Foscam cameras for years and would recommend to friends and family

Let down
Wanted to wait with writing a review once i have a better understanding of the product, its flaws etc. I really wanted the product to work for me as first impressions were really good.Pros:- good quality picture- sd card to store recordings locally- good and sturdy build of the doorbellCons:- if you try to link it with mechanical chime, there’s no proper support or instructions available provided by Foscam, i followed Netatmo manual to get it working- foscam app is rather tragic. Sends me reminders to update firmware, i follow instructions, got a message saying firmware updated successfully just to open the app again and get another notification about the same firmware upgrade. Stuck in this loop for some time now- doorbell frequently stops working ie. people at the door hear the electronic foscam bell going off but mechanical chime at home doesn’t work. Reset the device and boom all works again for another few days.- the device froze few times in the past 2 months to a state where hard reset didn’t work. I had to remove the bell, unwire it, wait for the built in battery go flat, rewire it and it worked again. Super painful process especially if you’re expecting guests and on their arrival they can see only wires hanging by the doorWould return to Amazon but my return window closed few weeks ago.

Great doorbell, good software. Integrates well with Alexa and Google home.
I’ve had this doorbell a few months now. I’m very happy with it. It replaced an old wired doorbell, it was great to be able to use the old cables although I had to upgrade the bell transformer. Image clarity is great and I’ve had no issues with wifi connectivity, it maintains a solid connection. I used an SD card to store the video which worked well, but I later decided to use the cloud option for storing video as it had more functionality. I did need to use their support to upgrade firmware, it proved to be pretty efficient, a quick reset and things are good. Overall a solid doorbell.

Close to being a very good device, but not quite there
I was looking for an ONVIF/RTSP and Alexa compatible doorbell to integrate into my home setup. This nearly fits the bill, but not quite. The good:- ONVIF/RTSP integration is perfect. I had this connected up with my monitoring system in minutes. Note I don't use the inbuilt monitoring in these cameras so won't comment on that- Video quality is excellent and the wide angle gives great (albeit fisheye of course) coverage- Can view the camera stream live via an Echo Show- 2-way audio and alerting works well via iPhone appThe not-so-good:- Doesn't ring Alexa devices or automatically wake up Echo Show - I was hoping it would play notifications to echo devices or at least start auto streaming on the Show - it doesn't- Delay before stream shows on Show (5-10 seconds)- The doorbell push itself does not have a solid click to it - sometimes you press and it doesn't trigger- Integration with chimes, whilst it seems to work, caused the transformer on my chimes to start buzzing quite loudly; with wireless chimes I could not get it to work at all.. this was the killer for me as I could not get decent chime or notification throughout the houseSo for now I have returned the unit and will stick to traditional doorbell with wireless chime repeaters / separate video setup until something better comes along. I do know from speaking with Foscam that the echo integration is coming shortly, so I might revisit in the future. For homes where you have existing chimes hard wired in where you need them and just want a stand-alone notification to your phone, this may be the best option out there. If you want an ONVIF/RTSP unit, I think you are better off with a dedicated camera.

I Love It! Just what I needed.
I have a Zoneminder system at home and needed a compatible video doorbell. Easier said thanks done!Tried others but the Foscam VD1 does the trick straight out of the box... and many more tricks too!Integrates with Echo Show, sends email alerts, ftp's snapshots to my offsite server... lots of things!Easy to install. But don't forget you'll need a power source: I bought a 24v 500mA bell transformer to add a traditional chime indoors. It's a best buy and it's brilliant!

Very solid device
My second Foscam camera in 7 years and they are just as solid, both physically and software wise, as they always were.Works perfectly, both with proprietary app, and also with ONVIF feed if you use HomeKit or similar. It competently serves ad just another CCTV camera, which happens to have solid doorbell features.Traditional Door bell interaction is great, as is it’s ability to use doorbell power.

Foscam DBW5 with Lorex DVR using ONVIF
I'm rating this Foscam DBW5 as tops in all respects! I'm including setup steps for Lorex DVR using ONVIF since it took awhile to figure it out! The Lorex setup defaults to HTTP port 80 for ONVIF, but Foscam is the only camera (in my own network) that uses 888 dedicated to ONVIF. The setup instructions were fairly clear, but take the suggestion to configure the doorbell "on the bench" prior to installing it by your door, see below! This doorbell replaces a troublesome "LaView ONE HALO" that, after 18 months, has severe network issues! If you don't purchase the Foscam cloud services, it's a good idea to purchase the internal SD card from the get-go! It allows you to view recent video clips without much trouble. How to add the Foscam video doorbell “DBW5” to Lorex 6xxx DVR1. Configure the Foscam DBW5 first following the supplied instructions. Install the app on your smart phone first! I configured the Doorbell on the bench (with a USB port on my pc) before installing it by the door. NOTE: it is also a good idea to download the FOSCAM VMS application to your PC. After lots of weeping and gnashing of teeth, this is the only source to determine the true port number for ONVIF! (888). Foscam VMS is also a great application to run on your PC while working so you can see the front door!2. On the Lorex DVR login to the main menu as admin.3. Open the menu for REMOTE DEVICE4. Search by IP for devices. The Foscam DBW5 should show up as detected.5. Add it to the live devices table.6. Click the checkbox and the edit icon.7. The default values should show as Protocol – ONVIF (if not change it!) Name - whatever you assigned like “doorbell” IP address- xxx.xxx.x.xx RTSP PORT – self adaptation HTTP PORT – 888 (The Foscam actually identifies this as the "ONVIF" port) Username – Foscam assigned username (You assigned this in the Foscam VMS app) Password – Foscam assigned password (You assigned this in the Foscam VMS app) The remaining are defaults. Be sure to click “Apply” then clicking “connect” should show a view from your new camera. The default HTTP port in the Lorex configuration is port 80, or “PORT X” I have 3 different brands of cameras on my security system and the default worked just fine for all of them except the Foscam. To determine the Foscam port for ONVIF (On your PC with “Foscam VMS”)1. Open Foscam VMS2. pull down the menu for “My Device”3. Your DBW5 should be displayed; open the 3 bars pull-down by the device name.4. Navigate to Setup5. Open Network6. Open Onvif, the Onvif port default 888 is displayed, leave authentication on no.7. In the settings for Video encode, I also lowered the resolution to 720P. I'm not sure if this is necessary, but bandwidth is becoming an issue on my home network!Editorial comment; I'm no expert on networking so I don't know why ONVIF is on a port other than “80”. My guess is that it gives the user more flexibility on Port Forwarding and security configuration for the network router.Final Verdict: after fighting constant network issues with my previous doorbell, this one is a GodSend! You don't need to pay for cloud storage. The Foscam VMS works great using "local" login!Installation was a little glitchy, but read the instructions carefully. Foscam VMS on my PC was extremely helpful! I've installed 4 different makes of cameras on my network. They are ALL Glitchy when it comes to install instructions!!There is no instruction with the packaging on how to install and attach to DVR;s other than Foscam. (not unexpected)The stream to my Lorex NVR is very clear and stable! The video is OUTSTANDING!I am a believer in using static IP addresses for my cameras. In the past, DHCP has lost the ip assignment and assigns a different IP after a power failure!

Gute Kamera. Sehr guter Service!

Camera is adequate, but software, motion detection, and lens angle are all awful!
Camera is adequate, but software is awful! The combination of useless motion detection, not wide enough angle lens, and bad software make this a poor choice. I cannot recommend this system for anyone.Pros:The camera itself isn't too bad. Decent image quality.Decent night vision.Works with the power for my pre-existing doorbell system.Works easily with my existing mechanical door chime and my pre-existing doorbell chime extenders.Doesn't require paid subscription service.Allows local storage on micro SD card.Cons: (MANY!)Lens is not wide-angle enough. If you can see the doorstep for parcels, you can't see a visitors face and vice versa. You can't see both parcels and peoples faces at the same time - it's impossible.Motion detection is absolutely awful! Even when you set only a tiny area for detection and lowest sensitivity, it detects motion almost continually, even when nothing is apparently moving. A tiny insect briefly flying past sets it off. This makes the notification feature totally useless because of constant false alarms. The Alexa skill works on Fire TVs, but does not work at all on Android phones. The Foscam software generally is bad and not intuitive.Instructions are bad. I am very handy and generally good with this sort of thing, but these instructions are honestly awful, including some errors. It uses a non-standard port (88 instead of 80) so it will not work with certain third-party applications and software, including my home security system. You can't set the system up without creating an account with Foscam and scanning qr codes. This should be optional. It should work as a stand-alone system.
