Hondo and Fabian

This book is so cute! Fast and easy bedtime read.

We actually bought this one to use as a gift. This was one of my children's favorite books. It's adorable!!

My neighbor recommended this book for my book-obsessed 2.5 year old after I lamented about the staleness of our board book collection. I immediately picked up the hardcover version from Amazon for a great price!The artwork is soft and unique with beautiful, soothing colors.The story is deceptively simple with only a couple short sentences per page, but there seems to be something totally captivating in this book for toddlers. My girl would happily ask to read this book 5 times in a row or more.I've been very impressed by the lasting impression this book has had for my toddler. The concepts and vocab have stuck with her. She is now often using the terms: "going on adventure", "full and fat" & discussing fish and fishermen. Super cute!

I'm a vet student in my 30s, and I bought this book as a baby shower gift for a friend because the cover caught my eye. Once I flipped through it, I fell in love and bought a copy for myself. The illustrations are absolutely beautiful, with a soft, luminous glow that makes them feel slightly dream-like. The story is simple and delightful, describing a day in the life of Hondo (the family dog) and Fabian (his feline sibling) and the adventures they each have.A sequel, Fabian Escapes, is similarly wonderful, and I highly recommend them both! They're short and simple enough to be read to even very young children, and the illustrations are so beautiful that adults won't get tired of reading them over and over again. I honestly read one or the other as a bedtime story to MYSELF at least 2 or 3 times a week! These books will be my staple purchase for every baby shower I attend from now on!

I gave this book to my 4 year old grandson and he liked it a lot. He had me read it to him multiple times (although he often asks me to read things over and over...guess that's just how a child's mind works!). The drawings were soft and made the 2 pets (Hondo and Fabian) seem like the soft furballs that they are. I liked the story because it was engaging enough of a story to hold my 4 year old grandson's attention but without the scary or mocking way that books often present their stories. So, this book will hold the interest of your young friends without scaring them to death or making them feel stupid.

Very simple peaceful story. I just love the illustrations. I originally got this several years ago when my daughter was young, and I just bought another copy to give as a gift to someone else. I showed my daughter, who's a teenager now, and she remembered it. It was one of her favorites.

A good old friend. I must have read this to my son a couple of hundred times when he was 2, 3 & 4 years old. I even snuck it in a few times when he was five and six when we were running short on bedtime story time. Super simple, but enjoyable. One of those books that will be in the "keep" pile for when he has kids...

Great story, love the contrast between dog and cat life! Beautiful illustrations as well. The book is overall quite simple though, and not many words - good for younger kids!

Really lovely book, bought it for our daughter for xmas and will buy it again for a few friends in the future.
