I replaced four elderly, lackluster spotlights at the four corners of my house with this product, and I was amazed at the difference. And the two electricians who hung them yesterday were pleased at the strength and the brightness, as well as the ease of adjusting compared to so many other lights I had considered. I was contemplating some outdoor landscape lighting as well, but with these aimed strategically, my entire yard is lit up when they are on and I do not need any additional lighting. And the bronze color matches my bronze gutters so I am totally thrilled. I used a warm GE bulb. My flagpole is casting that shadow in the photo.

This seems to be a very good product, and when properly installed, perhaps excellent. The instructions are a little vague, though, so it is smart to give yourself a little time and care assembling the product. I got a few things wrong on my first try at assembling the fixture, and am glad that I did it all at my kitchen table and not standing on a ladder by the side of my house. The following were not immediately obvious from the instructions.First, the lock washers, essential for positioning the directions of the lights, go on the outside of the base plate, not on the inside. Also, less obvious from the drawing/instructions, the lock washers have definite inside sides that should be in contact with the base plate. The inside sides have small gripping teeth.Second, the angle setting is a bit tricky, and if not securely fastened, could become loose, requiring a trip or two back up the ladder. I strongly advise that you determine the proper angle and securely screw the fittings into place, using a little extra moxie, before mounting the fixture.Finally, there are plastic gaskets to be mounted inside the light cones to help protect the electrical sockets from the elements. insects, and the like. These gaskets must be securely and properly installed before the unit is mounted. The gaskets have slightly beveled edges. It might seem intuitive that the narrower part of the gasket should be inside. Actually, the opposite is true. Unless the wider part of the gasket is inserted to the inside the gasket will not remain in place. It is helpful to lightly tap the gaskets into place to ensure that they do not come loose.It took me a while to arrive at these solutions, and I am glad that I spent the extra time to make sure that the fixture was properly assembled before mounting it. The fixture properly mounted is very attractive and functional, and appears to be very sturdy.I would give this product five stars if the tips I had suggested above were included in the instructions. If you have read this far, you are a good candidate for purchasing this product.

I have read a few of the low ratings and did not have the same issue. Took me about 5 minutes to assemble this unit. It is the same basic design that has been around for 4 decades. Heavy weight materials, excellent construction, and all the pieces were there. I bought 1 set to see it in person, but I am ordering 9 more today. Buy with confidence.

Didn't fit existing electrical box very well and unable to know that before buying

Lights up the whole backward with super bright bulbs. Went in easy with recommended exterior round electrical box, gasket, etc. great upgrade!

My old front door lights really need a freshen up, they are at least 23 years old and I would not be surprised if they are the original when the house was built in 1976. They are all rusted, when I started looking into replacing lights, I could not find the same e26 based shaded single-head light. They are all LED build-in with motion detection. The problem that I have is that I like my current motion detection light bulb as it is not IR but RF so it can detect me even I am on the other side of the door. The new LED motion light will only detect motion in the front not 360 degrees all around. They were plenty without the shade but I want to have a shade to protect the light bulb. It took a couple of hours to find this with the right keyword. Bottomline, it took longer to remove than to install, installation was easy even with light DIY experience. Good product and good buy.
