The Economics and Ethics of Private Property: Studies in Political Economy and Philosophy

Wonderful, but repetitive at times.
This book is a true gem of logic, and should be considered a must read. It defends its ideas remarkably well. However, it is clearly a collection of essays by Hoppe, and hence, some of the ideas and arguments are restated almost word for word, 3, 4 or even 5 times. Nonetheless, a must read.

Hans Hermann Hoppe is an intellectual giant, standing on ...
Hans Hermann Hoppe is an intellectual giant, standing on the shoulders of another, his tutor Murray N .Rothbard. He takes Rothbardian ethics and logic to a whole new level, anticipating the known Statist arguments and dealing them crushing, effective, argumentative blows. The book isn't long, and with his cutting wit and strong thinking, it need not be.

What every student of economics should be studying!
I do not accept Hans-Hermann's, or Rothbard's, conclusions on money but his assessment and insights on the State, property, morality, ethics and political economy, in general, are indispensable. Thank you Hans-Hermann!

Great book by a great thinker.

A favourite economics thinker
Hoppe is one of my favourite Austrian Economists and belongs in the same league as Mises, Hayek and Rothbard for his modern contributions to the ideas supporting democracy within a small government context. This is a great book as is his Domocracy: The God That Failed.

No right to life and liberty without the right to private property.
The concept of "Property Rights" are under attack from conservatives, liberals, and our legal system. This book examines the interdependence between our unalienable rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness (read the latter as property). The book is well written and the analysis is clearly presented. It is a delight to read and convincingly presents the ethical and moral basis for private property In a free society.

challenging
This is the second book I read from Hoppe. English is not my mother tongue and this book was very hard to read. But thats not only due to my lack of fluency but also because the book is quite technical and hard to process. Especially the first part (the economic part) has parts that are only interesting for people who know a lot about economics. The philosophy part was more accesable but also a bit repetetive. I recommend this book to everyone who has not grasped the idea of Hoppe's argumentation ethics which are a necessary part to understand and defend property rights.

Masterpiece
The essential work of professor Hoppe united in a single book, the printing could be smaller though.

A libertarian must-read book
Hoppe, as usual, strikes with this marvelous piece of libertarian literature.
