I love this mouthpiece
I am a freshman in college for music and have had the same mouthpiece since the fifth grade. Yes the one that came WITH my saxophone. My friend that plays professionally let me try out his mouthpiece and I fell in love. It is a bit pricey but I have never been more confident in the way I sound. The tone is clear and I have so much control over volume. I use this mouthpiece to play both classical and jazz and it works amazing for both. I highly recommend.

Well Made
I got this from my grandson who is in freshman HS band. His bandmates recommended it and he's very happy with it.

Solid buy
Coming from a novice jazz improviser(look into voice leading btw that’s the start practice the chords of autmm leaves) .If you are looking from an “upgrade” of your Yamaha 4c then this mouthpiece is for you it will offer you the tool necessary to adequately be able to practice your long tones takes about 6 months of 5 min long tone warmups. as this mouthpiece was also a MASSIVE IMPROVEMENT FOR ME. Note after a certain threshold of proper gear playing an instrument is pure skill. PRACTICE YOUR LONG TONES WITH DYNAMICS AT 60 BPM SLOW AND STEADY BREATH FROM YOUR STOMACH.If you are an experienced player. You should then buy this mouthpiece because you like the sound of it. Generally there isn’t much of a difference when your already using a good mouthpiece.I use this mouthpiece with a reed strength of a 3.5 a stronger reed will get you a fuller sound because it includes those lower frequencies.Overall a strong buy if you want a reliable mouthpiece that will improve your tone. otherwise it’s still good if that’s the sound you’re looking for.

Big fuller sound, the first day.
I was overjoyed with the big full sound the first day. I read all the amazon reviews of all the HS students and their proud parents and it sounded like what I wanted. Plus I could return it if I needed something else. This mouthpiece has a strange brownish color inside looking from the reed end. Maybe it was returned by someone else? I am no expert on these mouthpieces. I have learned from this: try one in the store if possible, maybe buy 3 and return 2 that don't work as well. It comes in a cheap box with a nice velvet (felt) bag with draw strings and a fancy brochure with much interesting info. There is a list of saxophone greats from history. And the best picture of Adolph Sax I have ever seen. The second most surprising thing is the next day I played and I had already gotten used to it so the excitement was COMPLETELY gone. Several days later I used the Yamaha 4C and could not tell much difference at all. Then I tried the MP that came with the horn. It wasn't that bad. So are we mesmerized about what a difference a different MP makes? Has my embouchure improved so much that I can make the horn sound like I want it to? Did I just get the wrong size tip opening? I don't know. I don't want to go to the post office any time soon so I'll take a trip to the big city and maybe try some MPs before I buy another.

Great mouthpiece for beginners too
Very easy to play. I had a 50 yr old C* so it was time to get a new one and very happy I did.

Great mouthpiece, came highly suggested and didn't dissappoint
Got this mouthpiece for son based on the suggestion of his private lesson teacher and the band director. He had been playing sax for two years and was advanced past the beginner stage. This year he was trying out for a competitive Jazz Band and they suggested he could improve his tone and playability with this mouthpiece. He tried once and never looked back...he loved the feel and sound and has used this mouthpiece ever since. As a parent I was a little shocked by the price but it was competitive with other mouthpieces and I know instruments are expensive....The Selmer S-80 C got great reviews so we felt comfortable making the purchase and it didn't disappoint.Fast forward six months later and he is still loving this mouthpiece and made both the competitive jazz band and top concert band at his middle school. Mouthpiece shows no signs of wear and tear and seems like it will last a long time even though he plays at least 5 days a week. Great product, I am very happy with this purchase.

Selmer S-80 C* Mouthpiece for Alto Saxophone | Quality and Value!
Not an inexpensive mouthpiece, yet it high quality is worth the investment! I've been playing alto saxophone again 4 months ago after nearly 30 years. I was readings reviews online looking for tips to improve sound quality - a number of beginners were raving about the Selmer S-80 C* Mouthpiece for Alto Saxophone, so I purchased it on Amazon. I use it with Vandoren VMC6 Mouthpiece Clear Cushions, Vandoren 2.0 (working on moving to the 2.5) Reeds, and a BG LD 1 Gold-Plated Ligature - very happy with this powerful combination!

he's quite good at playing and after he was accepted by U
We rented a Jupiter sax for my son who was 9 at the time. He became frustrated with it after a few lessons, because he couldn't seem to get a decent note out of the horn. We bought the Selmer S-80 C to replace the mouthpiece that came with the sax, and it made a big difference. Immediately his tone improved and his excitement for playing returned. Now 2 years later, he's quite good at playing and after he was accepted by U.C's CCM jr wind ensemble, we upgraded his sax to a new Yamaha YAS-480. The YAS 480 came with the Yamaha 4C mouthpiece, and sounds really, really good, but with the Selmer S-80 C, it sounds amazing.
