Firstborn

I have only a handful of "favorite books of all time," and in 20 years of voracious reading, this list remained the same. It is therefore a genuine compliment to say that as soon as my daughter found this gem of a story, it joined the few on 5 star level. The narration by a snarky magpie is the hilarious tie that binds this well-researched and well-written story. The family life of the wolves is told with just the right amount of emotion. As a fictional tale, it has some moments that narrow minded sticklers for absolute naturalistic accuracy may take issue with, but that advance the tale and reinforce the story line. It also, commendably, does not gloss over death - including violent death (certainly a part of life for wolves, or any other predator.) If your your young readers are usually very sheltered from these concepts, you might consider pre-reading it and reading it to them aloud, glossing over some of the sad or startling parts. Overall, a wonderful and recommendable book!

I’m 11 and I just read this book and I loved it ❤️. It’s funny,dramatic and cool. I think anyone reading this should read Firstborn!!!!!!!😄

Fabulous book, loved every minute. And there is no sugar coating of the realities of life and survival in the wild, an important lesson for us all no matter our age. I plan on giving this as a present to many of my friends come the holidays. Beautifully written and memorable. One of Mr. Seidler's finest. But do consider "Mean Margaret," "Toes," "The Dulcimer Boy," "A Rat's Tale" are among my favorites. But reading Tor Seidler assures you of a good read.

Great story, loved the catbird point of view.

Before I gave this book to my 13 year old granddaughter I read it myself.. I truly enjoyed the story, and she really loved the book. In fact, she has read it at least twice. The author is a good storyteller for young readers who want to read "wolf" books.

My daughter has read this book probably a dozen times, she hosted her very first book club with this book, she couldn't wait to introduce it to her friends, they all loved it.

This book is a gift to a friend.... He LOVED this book. 😊 The book seller; awesome! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
