Dinosaur Electronics (UIB L Large Universal Ignitor Board

This was one of the hardest diagnostics I've had. My well used, 15 year old, 6 gallon Suburban, Direct Spark Ignition, water heater was very slow to die completely. I did all the common inspections which were well documented on various RV forums and U Tube videos. I wasn't lucky enough to have the dreaded but very obvious burnt transistor that controls the ignition coil that was found in units built in the 2000 teens. I've had a lot of experience with poor connections, open circuits, bad grounding, bugs, rodents, corrosion, vibrations and other people's attempts of repair. My wife and I have owned our repair business for 20 years, which takes in mobile utility vehicles of various types which use many RV components like water heaters and pumps, HVAC, generators, refrigerators freezers, vacuums, ect. I new Dinosaur Electronics made quality replacement control boards from my experience with Onan/Cummins and Generac generators. I was tired of wasting time so I ordered this control. The existing plug required no modifications (my unit used the Small Universal Igniter Board), plugged in the high tension wire (same kind of connector as old board), purged the gas lines by lighting closest gas appliance to the water heater which was the stove. Water heater lit on the second attempt and stayed on. My take from this is Dinosaur has made many improvements with this circuit board, bigger relay, heavier integrated circuits( ICs) a LED indicator for power, on board 5 amp automotive type fuse, bigger igniter coil, ect. and all made here in the USA. Shipped and received before estimated delivery date, packaged very well with good instructions if needed, very happy with this purchase, price is on point considering cost of engineering, development, materials, shipping and SUPPORT, thanks Dinosaur and Amazon.

After buying a board from a different place and having to wait 3 weeks for it to get delivered to me and then it wouldn't work on my RV furnace Well I looked at what was out there available and the Dinosaur board was the one that had great reviews and after recieving mine in only 3 days Man o man I am so happy It works perfectly Was simple mounted up just like the old one and plugged right up to the original pigtail Works fantastic just like it should Im definitely a Dinosaur customer for life They got it going on

Bought this to replace my old board for my Atwood water heater on my Fleetwood RV. It’s not the same form factor so I had to drill new holes. Once mounted, the water heater worked perfectly.

After installing this panel in my water heater it works great. No complaints. 5/5

Met guy gruper decades ago when he started the company. He sold door to door to get it going. Builds the best boards bar none. Double soldered, best components and materials. They are the only ones to get. They went to a larger capacitor once to help clean up the dirty power they get and it dropped current across the board. It would drop out on norcold fridges. Asked guy what he did to solve it. He put in its own voltage regulator. Superior boards…

This unit fit all my connectors perfectly and the water heater fired up first attempt. I purchased the clear cover and I screwed both the control board and the cover to one of the wood braces in the compartment. Much better than the zip-tied job that Forest River did with the original. By the way, the original board has the often cited Q3 transistor burn up. This board seems to be better constructed based on the board quality and the workmanship. The hardest part about installing this was getting the mattress off the compartment so that I could access the water heater! I recommend taking a picture of the original board connections since they are not "keyed" so that you can connect the new board correctly.My water heater was doing the loud "boom" on the third cycle of the direct spark ignition. When I watched the ignition sequence at night, with the gas off, I was only getting one spark. What was happening is that the burner chamber was filling with propane on the first two cycles, then the third cycle spark would set it off.The new board supplies a fast, steady spark,spark,spark during the ignition cycle and it ignites within a couple of seconds.

First of all I like to say I called the company and a human picked up right away and transferred me to a technician who helped me out a lot. That being said my gas light up right away after installing it but my heating element on the electric side wouldn’t heat up. I was frustrated because I just installed a new heating element and checked out the ohms but I had water in the tank and it was giving me a false reading so if you want to check your ohms on your heating element make sure you empty your tank first that’s what the tech told me. I never used my water heater on gas since I bought it brand new 2018, so the board was burned up from when I purchased it China junk board. Buy American made if you can. Dinosaur electronics are good quality. I now have a water heater that can work in gas or electric with the technicians help.
