Subtle
I was not familiar with agarwood incense but this is what I found,Agarwood, aloeswood, eaglewood or gharuwood is a fragrant dark resinous wood used in incense, perfume, and small carvings. It is formed in the heartwood of aquilaria trees when they become infected with a type of mold (Phialophora parasitica). Prior to infection, the heartwood is odourless. So it’s made from wood infected with mold that forms the resin, interesting. This is a unique incense, it is extremely thin and burns entirely, it is not on a stick like other incense, the whole stick is solid incense. The fragrance is earthy but subtle and doesn’t permeate or linger long. I really like the scent, it’s soothing to me. My husband actually didn’t like it but I do. I found that it burned best at an angle, standing straight up in my tall censor, it went out and would not stay lit so use this in an angled burner. I have not used agarwood before, so I have nothing to compare this to as far as quality but it smells very nice and I like it a lot. I would recommend giving this a try, it’s very nice incense.

Very nice package but that’s all.
The incense is not very cozy and smells. The Japanese Nipponkodo’s same products is much better.

Unique woody aroma from this delicate incense
This is unusual incense, and I have no idea why it's priced as high as it is. Maybe the ingredients are rare?It is beautifully packaged, and looks like a little piece of Japanese art. The incense itself comes in two very narrow tubes, as you can see from the 3rd picture in the product ad here. Along with it is a small gold disc, which I gathered is the place you insert the incense, which is meant to burn vertically. There are several holes to choose from and you have to find just the right one.The incense sticks are VERY delicate, and break very easily. Too delicate for my clumsiness. As for the scent, I've never experienced it before in an incense product. It's very striking and has a calming effect, in the long run. Here I'll show my low-brow ways: when you first light it, it smells like when a ground bloom flower or other firework has just finished doing its thing. This, weirdly, brings back pleasant childhood memories. After that, though, it kind of morphs into something similar to one of the woody scents (cedar, sandalwood), but has its own distinctive aroma. Despite how tiny the stick is, it is powerful. It doesn't last long. And on the packaging there is an esoteric paragraph, which includes a suggestion that you should only burn one stick a day. Maybe for spiritual reasons? The company also provided a small sample of "6 star" and "7 star" incense. What does this all mean? I copy-pasted this from the above description for our 5-star product:"The 5-star agarwood is suitable for artists, luthiers, tea masters, etc. who have some contact with agarwood. Burning an agarwood, dancing a cicada dance, drinking a cup of tea, stroking the sound of the piano, and sublimating the soul."I will just suggest that other people could probably use this incense too.

Interesting Incense
Amusing label. Interesting incense. It doesn’t burn like a typical incense stick. The tiny stick burns completely. It has an okay smell. Not long lasting at all.

Lovely single-note incense
Agarwood, also known as oud or aloewood, is one of the most revered incense ingredients, and until now I had only experienced it in blends and not on its own. This incense has a lovely and calming aroma that evolves as you experience with it and truly changes the feel of the room. I've been enjoying it at the end of the day as I wind down and I find it helps me to relax and sleep peacefully. It's a subtle scent and I think most people would enjoy it. When people tell me they don't like incense, they typically mean the strong, spicy or synthetic scents that can be overwhelming, but this one is very different from those types of fragrances. These incense sticks are the Japanese style, made entirely of combustible materials rolled into a thin stick (rather than the Indian style, where a core stick is wrapped or dipped in the incense material). This means they may not work with every incense burner, but the box includes a small gold disc that can hold multiple incense sticks upright - a minimalist, but functional holder. The entire set is beautifully packaged and also included two sample tubes of higher grades of agarwood incense.
