High quality upgrade, drop in convenience.
This high quality Magpul stock has revitalized my 1980 era Remington 700 in 30-06, which originally came on a hard polymer stock with the spring-loaded floor plate. The rifle is much more stable, and the stock is free and clear of the barrel. The user ergonomics are excellent and length of pull can be adjusted using the included inserts. This was a perfect drop in fit using the original stock screws. I had ordered longer screws just in case, but didn't need them. I also purchased the magazine converter from Magpul, which allows removable magazines feeding. When I added this, I did need the extended screws. These Magpul products require no cutting sanding or other permanent modifications to either their stock or your expensive Rem 700, so if you want to go back to the original or try another aftermarket stock you can.

Easy and simple fit
A little less frustration, a lot more action. Wonderful stock for the Remington 700 LA. Making the barrel free-floating is also a nice bonus. Feels good in your hands and just the right amount of width. The OD green is a great color too.

One of the best upgrades
One of the best upgrades. Wish I'd have ditched the junk factory Remington stock years ago. Improved accuracy and helps tame recoil with added weight and good butt pad. Only downside is check riser needs removed with one Allen screw to remove bolt for cleaner and maintenance.

Overall Nice Upgrade
I was at a crossroads (like many reading these reviews) whether I wanted to replace my Remington 700 entirely or re-stock it. I decided in-favor of trying out this Magpul 700L Stock to replace the factory Remington 700 ADL synthetic stock w/internal magazine *NO FLOORPLATE*(this is important). I was very skeptical about this stock judging from photos, thinking this thing was going to feel utterly "cheap", but having owned Magpul products in the past, I decided to go for it. Upon receiving and unpacking, I was already more than impressed; it looks and feels far better than pictures can do justice. Overall weight is very noticeably heavier then factory synthetic stock(some may dislike this, some may not care, but please be advised), ergonomics are fantastic, and the adjustable length-of-pull spacers are a nice touch! For those of you who are coming from a Remington 700 with Internal Magazine, that doesn't have a Floorplate, this is an important note. You will be required to purchase the Magpul Magwell( part# MAG569 for Magnum Cartridges or MAG489 for Non Magnum Cartridges) along with a fitting Magpul Magazine (Part# MAG698 for Magnum Cartridges or MAG671 for Non Magnum Cartridges). Once I had all the proper parts, installation was a total breeze. Since installing this stock, my rifle has truly become a totally different gun, and mostly all for the better. I am shooting far more accurately; there is less recoil, even out of the 7mm Rem Mag. With new Magwell, having the ability to have 6 rounds ready to fly is really nice! Overall build quality is fantastic for the price.Overall, I’ve really been enjoying this stock. I used it all Deer season and Elk season last year, and have zero regrets. I will say this, if you’re looking for something lightweight to pack around this is NOT the solution! I originally griped about the added weight, as I’m on my feet a lot during hunting season, but grew used to it quickly enough, and the pros far outweigh the cons. For general shooting, this stock is far superior to the factory stock in every way. I took 1 star off, due to the fact you need to purchase several other Magpul parts to actually make the conversion work successfully. I mean Magpul could at least provide some M-Lok QD Sling Mounts at a minimum. But again overall, once all said and done, it’s a great stock for the price, even after all the added expenses.

Awesome drop in upgrade.
I got the hunter stock, the mag well and 2 magazines. The 700 30-06 action dropped in and bolted down super easily. The Hunter stock adds a bit of weight (my OG stock was the Remington synthetic) but nothing that I’m not already used to. The mag well and the mags are perfect. I would only encourage this stock as a consideration for upgrading.

Awesome Stock!!
Bought this stock to replace the factory wooden stock on my Remington 270. The recoil from the old stock was just too much. The fit and finish of this stock is awesome. Simply drop in the barrel and receiver, toque the 2 screws and get ready for less recoil and improved accuracy.

Awesome, easy to install stock
Put this stock on my .270 and absolutely love it. Super easy installation, took maybe 5-10 minutes. I love the way this stock feels. Fully adjustable butt pad is a great addition as well. Wish they had these stocks for a couple of my other toys!

This is a very fine stock for the price but be careful of what you are buying it for. I understand why it was designed the way it is. Look closely at the pics in the ads assembly videos because must do not show what I'm referring too. I bought it to replace the cheap Remington ADL factory stock & to gain the advantage of an external clip. The embedded AL does make for a secure fit & the external mag is a big plus but I am disappointed (very unhappy) with one thing. My Remington 700 ADL is a .270 caliber & the barrel is tapered but the pics I reviewed seemed to show a much closer fit to the barrels in the for-grip portion of the stock. From the chamber area of the barrel out to the end of the stock the gap around the barrel & stock increases to approximately 5/16" (0.3125") on the bottom & 1/4" (0.250) on the sides. Personally that look is not like the perceived look of the pics I reviewed. I know it is designed to be free floating & the contour of the stock follows the contour of the barrel but over time with a sling attached, temperature changes & the stock being made of a composite material I just can't see the for-grip remaining in the same position & not bending even slightly. MagPul engineering should have put a little more thought in to this design instead of trying to produce a one size fits all approach. Possibly having an AL shim with a band around the barrel like the older Winchester rifles. But I bought it so I have to live with it. MagPul makes good products but its going to take a year or two to find out if what I foresee happens. I really hope I am wrong.
