Should be in every woodworkers toolbox!
While these come with a color corresponding chart, there are some that are so close in color that it is almost impossible to tell which are which. Even under good lighting if can be difficult and assuming they're in proper order when you get them can leave you having to rework some pieces, so take the time under a natural light to get them in order and then mark them somehow. I did along the thin edges with it's "grit "They're also not as durable as I have found other similar products to have been. I was touching up some pen blanks I turned and with my spindle speed set at about 800r.p.m.'s, the covering of the pad just stretched and ripped almost completely off the inner pad. It wasn't a fast speed and I wasn't pressing hard. It happened to 2 different grits at different points(seperate projects) but so far the others are all fine and have done well even with the spindle set closer to 1200. Just be mindful of your using them with a lathe or other moving device. As for how they leave my projects. I was quite happy with how they leave my work looking and feeling. I generally use sandpaper up to 5000 grit(everything from 120 - 5000 on many projects) which leaves my pieces looking and feeling like glass. Even the coarsest woods come out beautiful and I always felt that it was as good as it would get. Then I tried these and found it could be better. However like many things these take time and you'll need to be patient slowly building up the levels. However your patience is anply rewarded with gorgeous pieces that need little else done to look so good. I generally just finish my pieces off with a light lacquer followed after drying by a buffing with bees wax or carnuba. If you're doing any kind of woodwork spend the money and you won't be sorry.

Great product overall.
Good product. More affordable than other bigger names brands out there. I’m not sure about the long term durability as I’ve only used it one one project so far. But I’m a big fan of foam backed sanding pads, as opposed to regular sand paper. One criticism is the pads aren’t marked for each grit. Instead they are color coded with a small sheet of paper telling you what color is which specific grit. The only issues with that are that some colors are similar to each other, making it slightly confusing and also some of the colors on the paper are different than the corresponding colors of the actual sanding pads. Once I was able to determine which pad is which grit I marked the sides with a sharpie. All in all a great product that I recommend.

Need a microscope to figure out which pad is which
I figured, "How hard can it be to determine the fineness of each pad?" Well, the answer is, "Durn near impossible". There's even a color that doesn't show up on the color chart. I figured, "Well, I'll take 'em out of the package carefully. Surely the pads will be packed in the order shown on the chart! Right?" Wrong-o! Makes it hard to figure it all out.

DIfficult to determine grit color without effort
Just got these and haven't used yet, but spent the first 5 minutes trying to determine what grit each sheet is. As remarked in some other reviews, the colors are very close in some instances, and mine weren't marked with any kind of V as some reviewers mentioned. The pads weren't in order upon delivery and the color chart included doesn't match up to the sheets themselves. 3600 grit and 6000 grit seem to be reversed on the color chart vs. what I see on the pictures included on Amazon. I'll update once I've used, but right out of the package they get a 4 just for that.

WOW, You aren't really good at this....
okay, why do my sanding pads have instructions or "tips" that are just instructions on how to organize them?! WHY DON'T YOU PUT THEM IN ORDER ALREADY SO THAT WHEN I RECEIVE THEM ALL I NEED TO DO 1 SIMPLE STEP OF WRITING #1-9?! Also, isn't there a good reason for the different colors? Wouldn't that be a convenient way to identify the different grit levels? Oh, I guess it would be if you would have tried to actually match them to the printed "color chart" ... I'll follow your 4 steps of ignorance and waste my time trying to decipher your horribly done color coding chart system of drab colors that are similar and very sad looking. BOO! (see pic - actually looks better in photo than in person - BLUE / SLATE BLUE / TEAL / BROWN (that looks purple) / GRAY-PURPLE / PURPLE are really similar - 6 out of 9)

QA must be color blind
Yellow, green, grey, and brown are the only distinguishable shades. The blues and purples don't match any of the photos or included insert.Quality seems good, and the price is great, but I can't figure out specifically where x4 pads in the stack are supposed to go without guesstimating on feel alone, and that's a deal breaker. They need marked, or a wider color range.

Recommending this product to everyone.
I have uses this type of Micro Mesh for a number of years. Like any disposable product, the longer or more you use it, the sooner it will have to be replaced. This product, when used in the proper manner will last and perform as expected. This product has a foam or rubber backing which is sandwiched between to pieces of mesh sanding or polishing cloth. I love using this product with my turning products when preparing a turned product for its final finish. The only issue I have ever had is the colors of the pads. Each color represents a different sanding or polishing grit. There are about 4 or 5 pads who's colors almost look alike. After being used for a while it can get a little confusing telling them apart. A more distinct color between these pads would be so benificial as when polishing or sanding with the 9 pads IN ORDER is very important.
