A fun project with a brilliant result.
This was the largest hobby SMD component project I’ve ever done and first time reflowing solder paste with hot air and I am extremely happy with how it turned out.The kit arrived on time with no damages or missing pieces. Everything was sealed inside anti static packaging that Included the board, LEDs, resistors, battery holder and instructions. All of the parts are constructed with quality materials. The LEDs we’re banded together by color and there are a few spare parts for each component. Instructions are vague but comprehensible. The LEDs have a green arrow on the back indicating the cathode that should point down and green dot on the front that will visible on the top right when installed correctly. Resistors are not polarized and can be installed in either direction. I opted not to use the included battery holder as it doesn’t have a way of switching on/off. Instead I used a customized 9v enclosure with a switch that can be powered by rechargeable battery or usb-c.The components are pretty small so I would recommend quality tweezers and a microscope.

Nice
This was fun to build, but had one issue,as these are extremely small so you are bound to lose one here or there, and it came with just the exact number of white LEDs so I had to buy more but ended in a nice piece. The LEDs are 0603 but thought they was 0805s so I just used the 0805s for the stars section to give it just a little more pop. Schematic says run at 5 volts but even at 3.5 I was afraid of planes landing lol. It's been running great for a few weeks now at 2.7 volts.

Fun soldering project but pretty tedious
Had to take a couple breaks from this one but in the end it does look pretty nice. If it's literally your first time soldering try something else first. It's extremely tedious without a microscope but it is manageable.

Great kit with no directions
The good:- Provides TONS of soldering experience exactly as advertised.- Looks really sharp once it's done.- Your results may vary, but I had anywhere from 5-10 extra components of each type, even after wrecking a few of them during the process. So if you're completely new to this and kind of bad at it (see my photo), you should have some margin for error. The bad:- No directions! There are various bits of information in their Amazon product photos, but not nearly enough to actually complete the project unless you're very experienced. If you're thinking about buying this, here's the two things I couldn't find: 1) The ends of the LEDs with the green dots on them should be oriented towards the TOP of the flag (the "God bless the USA" end), and 2) the power terminals require 9 to 12 VDC to light up the flag once you're done.Other thoughts:- This is a neat kit that gives you the most soldering per dollar of any of the other practice kits I've seen on here. And this one actually does something (lights up) after you finish it.- I feel like the Chinese engineers who made this didn't know a whole lot about the United States and just looked up a bunch of random America-related things to add to the board and the product description. There's seven founders and presidents listed out of order on the bottom of the board, the back says "4th july 1776", and the product description says "The Great America! Make America great again!" This isn't a criticism of the product, I just think it's funny and endearing.

Good practice kit, repetition. LEDs failed 2 weeks
Good practice, lots of repetition. Neat to have when done. 5v at .5a. only reason for 4/5 is they give you a few extra components, except for the blue LEDs which was exactly the number needed. Don't start with the blue LEDs. Used hot air on backside resistors, iron on LEDsUpdate. Was making a mount to display on front window of house. Tested for 2 weeks before mounting and leaving unattended, 3 red LEDs have failed already. No data on LEDs, but suspect they are being driven too hard as all LEDs have same resistors

These are not 0805 parts !
In one of the pictures it says that the size of the SMD components is 0805. THAT IS A BOLD FACED LIE! Not sure what size these are, but these are at least half the size of a 0805 part. These are too small for my eyes. I gave it one star only because I have to put in something. I'd give it negative stars if I could. That seller should be banned from Amazon (and taken out behind the wood shed) for outright lying about this product.I hate being lied to.

Fairly basic kit, good practice
Fairly easy to assemble, had to ask about the polarity of the LED SMD, but once that was solved things went fairly smoothly from that point on. It takes me a while to do this so it may or may not take you as long to complete. I feed it with 6V dual button cell battery holder also purchased on Amazon and it's nice and bright. The polarity if you're not sure is the cathode goes to the solid white bar (can be seen on the blue and red led positions) all the LED are placed the same way. (union jack in the top left as it should be, cathode is on top)

This project strains the eyes, with the extremely small pieces.
This was the first soldering kit project that my granddaughter "took a break from" due to the very small parts, and the numerous parts. She has easily completed many of the kits sold on Amazon, but this one was very strenuous. I told her to take a break from it, since I don't want it to discourage her love for soldering. She took a nap after working to complete it.My husband who was a lifetime Air Force electronics technician went balistic after he tried to help my granddaughter finish this flag that she was making to surprise him. The picture on Amazon is beautiful, but even he told her to "give it up, the parts are too small to see." Very discouraging project to make.
