March 2022I tend to be skeptical about the quality of products, so I was skeptical of this one.What a pleasant surprise. This mini chainsaw is small, light, ergonomic, and powerful (relative to its size).My bona fides are that I own several Stihl pro chainsaws, a Stihl carving chainsaw, and a Stihl pole saw, and King-Arthur chainsaw blades for my grinder, so I’m no stranger to chainsaws. I use them almost daily and I’m never without one fully fueled, oiled, and sharpened.My problem was getting into tight places to cut invasive vines strangling trees. This little baby does it and it does it admirably well. I even cut through a six-inch ash branch, although I had to spproach it from various sides to cut through.I read the reviews, and many buying these minis are noobies using chainsaws.FOR THE NOOBIES (beginners):Chainsaws do the work, so don’t saw back and forth with them as you would a manual handsaw. Just hold the mini to the branch as close to the hilt of the mini as possible, and let her sink in and chew.Always position your body and face to the side when you’re cutting. Never have your face in line with the path of the blade.With this mini’s design, get into the habit of putting your trigger finger along the side of the saw when you aren’t cutting - as one does with a firearm. Keep your finger AWAY from that front trigger when you're walking around or moving over to the next branch. Make this a habit, second nature, for your safety. Respect the tools you use.Buy a small can of WD-40 or other lube spray, and keep your chain lubed for heat-build-up reduction to extend the life of your chain. Spray it every few minutes when it’s looking dry.*******If I could add design modifications to this mini,I’d add a small self-lubricating well (although it will add weight), andI’d add a small safety lock button near the trigger, like on a BB gun.Very nice, useful, fun little tool. Highly recommended.UPDATE:MAY 2022The only issue I’ve had since March is one of the two batteries stopped working in April. It must have been an old battery or a defective battery. I don’t want to send it back, but I may consider it because batteries are so expensive these days. The saw has been consistently good.I’m no fan of woefully expensive, battery-powered anything. I’d prefer a small gas-powered tool with no batteries as batteries are highly destructive to the planet.

Purchased in 9/21 and did not use until summer of 2022 and only a few times. One of the batteries will not charge. Trying to buy a new battery. Not happy with reliability of product.

I previously purchased & returned another brand of a 6” hand saw. Quality control or better said, lack of, was evident from the moment I opened the box. Along w/lack of quality, the handle was too big & hard for me to grip & it was heavy, which would make it difficult to use.I then selected this hand saw & I love it! As a 70yr old gal, with small hands, what immediately struck me was how easy it is to hold. The kit contained everything you need, minus chain lubricant. I do dribble a few drops on chain as I use it, although there is no instruction regarding using it. There is a chain guard, which I like. With this saw I’ve cut limbs from 1/4” to 3” or more & this saw handled it all! I’m still on the 1st battery & love that it comes with 2, so I can keep on working. Charge time per battery was approx 2 hrs when it arrived - it may have been shorter - I had placed 1 on charger & happened to check it @ 2 hrs & it was done & the same w/2nd. The kit has a carrying case, safety glasses, gloves, an extra chain & the tools to maintain it, the 2 batteries & charger. I put the chain lubricant into a 2 oz drip bottle & it fits in fine. It would be nice if the case was a hard case, but it is a soft case w/zipper, for storage. An inexpensive toolbox will work if I need to replace down the line, so it’s not a major issue for me. I would encourage anyone who’s doing fall/spring cleanup & wants to trim bushes & more, to add this tool to your package. It is so much easier than hand nippers or other hand tools to cut limbs. If you’ve never used a chain saw, this is a good starter one, it should be respected, it is a chain saw, but it is not intimidating to use. I’ve used various size electric & battery ones (gas ones are too heavy & too hard for me to start) for bigger projects, but for the small stuff - this is the right tool for the job. I’ve already recommended it to a couple of my girlfriends.

I'm changing from 4 stars to 5 stars because my wife has used it for almost a week without problems to trim Lilac bushes and Apple trees, without oil for the chain ( I'm not sure oil is needed as the chain bar is made of a plastic rather than steel). It's lightweight, perfect for our 75 y/o arthritic hands. Works well right out of the box after tightening the chain. I started charging one battery right away while I used the other for about 45 minutes and then switched. The unit does shut down when it's over heated. Started to use it on pruning apple trees and lilac hedges and cutting up small/medium branches for our fire pit. So far, so good! One battery would not work so I contacted Amazon, who contacted B..., and they sent me two new batteries in a timely manner!

I ordered this for some quick limb pruning; however, just after this chainsaw arrived, a tall truck broke off a large overhanging tree branch that now needed immediate pruning. Thankfully, one of the chains came already installed and the two batteries arrived with enough charge to cut the remaining branch from the trunk. It took a few minutes, but it cut through the base of the branch (7" diameter) without any issue. Since I was used to lugging around a gas powered chainsaw, I was pleasantly surprised at it's cutting ability despite it's light weight.I debated between the 4" and 6" chainsaws, and I'm sure glad I got the 6". It showed that it can tackle a fairly large job which I'm sure the 4" would not be able to do.The storage bag by itself has no structure, so I suggest taking the foam from the shipping box, and inserting it into the supplied storage bag to keep the saw and accessories organized and protected. The foam fits perfectly and I'm sure that's the intent...although this was not mentioned in the instructions.All in all, I'm very happy with this chainsaw!
