Chopping Mall is an extremely fun horror-action movie, and it's not afraid to lean into the silliness of the core concept -- killer robots run amok in a mall! The performances are good, the cinematography is inventive, and the music is perfect. The movie-makers got a lot of mileage out of what they had to work with -- as they say, "every dollar is up on that screen!" The robots themselves are are believable as (mal)functioning technology, moreso than a great many movie monsters even of the present day. Seeing all the old stores in the mall gives a heavy dose of '80s nostalgia.This "Vestron" Blu-ray is outstanding, loaded with special features, including recent interviews with cast & crew, behind-the-scenes, and 3 whole commentaries. I love commentary tracks that give me insight into the experiences of the actual actors or filmmakers, unexpected challenges and solutions, how they were inspired or how they pulled off the visual tricks. The picture itself looks great, much improved from the old DVD release. What a treat! Not to be missed.

Vestron Video has been releasing classic genre movies on 1080p Bluray, and they're very good so far. This classic is no exception. I won't go into a synopsis, because you probably would not have an interest in this movie if you were not already familiar with it. The remaster is excellent. It maintains the original mono VHS audio which does not bother me, some people may object. Its 80's cheesiness at its most glorious, and I love the audio commentary tracks. The goofy synth music is so nostalgic, so if you're into this sort of thing like I am, I couldn't recommend it more.

To my excitement, this came with its out of print slipcover. Always loved this movie.

I recently wrote the review for this film under the title for Summer of 84'.So this review is basically the same.A great notion many have most likely held,as a younger individual,of spending the night in the shopping mall after closing.These teens do just that,and fall prey to the malls new security sytem.They're gonna need their heads to get out of this one.Unfortunately some of them start losing theirs.Way back horror,way back fun.

This is an old guilty pleasure I really enjoyed watching again. I used to have the video cassette and this is light years beyond the quality I used to watch it on. Fun Horror film that I really recommend viewing or owning if you enjoy old cheesy horror films that are also really good. Chopping Mall is more appreciated today than it was yesterday. Check it Out!!

Great Film, Great Slipcover...

One of the best robot movies from the 80's!

Vestron releases are not the greatest restorations out there - but they are not the worst either… good picture compared to versions that have been out their previous and some decent extras. Also if you haven’t see it a strange and wild B movie robot including slasher

This is my favourite movie in the Vestron Collectors Series. I love the transfer and it got me hooked on collecting the rest of these silly movies. This is one that I have been waiting for a good transfer for years though.
