Short Useage Life!
The media could not be loaded. Upon receiving this item, it came with both batteries fully charged. I took the unit outside, cut some small tree limbs and the unit seemed to work as promised. So I came inside put the batteries on the charger, which the built in battery monitor showed them in the red and need of a charge. Next morning I put the batteries into the unit and it would not power up. I put the batteries back into the charger, it was showing them to be charged. So I re-installed them and pressed the power button once more, nothing would not turn on. This unit is a poor design. It has a battery monitor for both batteries built into the top of the unit with a very (in my opinion) fragile on/off push button switch. Needless to say I contacted Amazon and got a full refund for the product. Don't waste your time with this unit as you would be better off purchasing one "made in the USA" rather than out of country because the company who made this product has as of yet to return emails to me about the problem.

1 year later
I'm reviewing both the maxlander battery powered mulcher and battery powered chainsaw. Both are amazing the first season! I was very impressed with the amount of power and ability of the tools. However now 12 to 18 months later the batteries are dead. And I believe I properly maintain the batteries. Over the winter months I would plug them in for a week and then leave them unplugged from the charger for 3 weeks plug them in for a week then leave them unplugged for 3 weeks. Now the next season I go to utilize my tools and the batteries are dead.. Very disappointed.

Works as good as advertised.
I liked the saw as soon as I put it together, went together pretty easy, I charge the batteries up the night before, I don't find the on/off switch inconvenient, I got used to it right away, cuts fast, I like the fact that it gives you a beeping warning when your batteries are running low, this will prevent you from getting your bar stuck in a tree and then the battery is crap out on you, incidentally the batteries from the 10-in max Lander that I bought previously to this fit and work in the saw they're just two amp as opposed to floor amp but they would work as a backup, the 10-in max Lander I was disappointed because the tensioner does not work in it at all, leave it or not I was able to repair it, if anyone's interested please write a comment and I'll tell you how I did it it's simple and Bolt, the tensioner will never work but I made it so the bar is fixed at a good tension the chain never comes off, but it's not too tight to change the chain, so even that one works now. I would like to add that I have studied the negative reviews on this item, I believe they might have purchased this chainsaw to use as a primary chainsaw, I have a monster Husqvarna gas power chainsaw with a 20 inch bar, that's my primary, I use the cordless to do lemming trimming and even cut down 10-in diameter trees if it's just a one shot deal, it works great for that, I believe that's what these cordless saws are intended for.

one of the batteries didn't too long
At 1st I found the product to be awesome & much easier & less intimidating than the gas ones !! But unfortunately even though I didn't use it much... after awhile when I did need it again one of the batteries was no longer good. At 1st I used it right away but after a cple of years one of the batteries was no longer usable.

Tough little saw
Lotta bang for your buck. Holds up well. tackles the job just as well as a gas saw without the hassle. Nice and light easy to handle. I would suggest getting extra batteries if you have a bigger project but for average joe home owner this is a great saw.

Works OK
Saw seems to function well. Batteries drain down fairly quick. I can't seem to find a way to buy extra chains and batteries for it with the maxlander name.

lightweight, fast blade speed
good little saw. two batteries for use, both must be in place. has a on/off switch as well as safety and power trigger ( so three). lighter than the last electric saw w/ 16" i had which i got caught when dropping branches on a doug fir.( getting it free when off the ground ruined the drive sprocket area.) not as strong as that one but battery is less. blade speed may make it difficult for delicate work and not robust enough for real felling. definitely a nice toy though. cut 8" dead alder easily. haven't used it enough to determine real value. plastic saw, not for serious choppers. fine for backyard maintenance.
