Filter is surprisingly noisy, but provides good tasting water
Due to a number of health conditions that woud benefit from pure water, I purchased this water filter. I found it to be surprisingly noisy during filtration. However, that may be due to being placed on the enamel sink drainboard in this old farmhouse. It's possible it could give a quieter performance on a traditional countertop. However, I've tried softening the sound with a towel beneath the filter and it did nothing to quiet the noise. In fact, it is so loud that I draw all my morning water the night before so I don't have to hear it first thing in the morning. I will admit that I am sound-sensitive due to migraines. Other folks may not be bothered by the grinding noise at all. I am pleased with the flitration performance thus far.Regarding the replaceable filters---they seem pretty spendy. But they will filter 320 gallons. The big question in this part of the country due to the karst topography is how they will hold up when all the calcium carbonate, or lime, that is found in the water naturally runs through the filters. Will they clog well before the 320 gallons are up, or start clogging the filter like they do every pipe and faucet screen in the house? Time will tell on that little matter. If so, it was likely to happen no matter which brand of filter I purchased.Another drawback is how to fill the tank, which for me happens about once a day. Seems the front half needs to be taken apart and brought to the sink to fill, and it is slightly difficult to get the bottom snapped back into place, but not impossible. It is awkward to hold down the lid on the small hole on the front lid so it is open to let the faucet water in since it is on a spring. It is by far easier just to take the whole lid off to refill. Also, I couldn't figure out a way to download the app regarding the water usage because I'm not on Facebook. They apparently provide no other avenue for app downloadage. Not everyone in the world uses Facebook---or wants to. Fortunately there is a colored light system on the water filter that tells you when the filter needs to be changed. Would have been really nice to have a gallon-counter right on the filter, which doesn't seem that difficult to make happen---especially if the gallons are already being tracked on an app. It would be great to know how much I'm drinking each day instead of me keeping track of it. For this much cash outlay that doesn't seem too much to ask. The water is already going through a tube...just put a meter and a read-out on it. There's an idea for you to work on, Aquasana! If you do that, please show it in quarts, or partial gallons . Not everyone drinks as much as I do in a single day.Bottom line here, I am getting purified water at my fingertips that doesn't have microplastics or other impurities. It is a seemingly endless supply, for which I do not need to go to the store to resupply. For that I am grateful. I am quite happy with the taste and quality. It's very smooth and comes through the filter rather quickly.

Makes crappy tasting water taste less crappy (UPDATE after 9 Months use)
Bought it and will continue to use it, but it seems over hyped. Our town water tastes kind of meh. With this filter it tastes slightly less so. Not sure it would pass a blind taste test. Some reviewers have complained that it leaks water. I have had a few instances of this, but it has always been operator error. When a full pitcher is placed on the unit, the pump kicks in. Once the inner carafe is drained you can hear a shift in the motor noise. This lasts for a few seconds before shutting off. The blue light that indicates the pump is active lasts about 10 seconds longer, even though the pump is completely off/quiet. During this phase a small trickle of water continues to empty into the carafe as, I guess, the filter and feed tube drain. Users who pick up the carafe before the blue light goes out will likely experience some water "leaks".Another cause of "leaks" can result from overfilling, or awkward repositioning of the carafe when full of water.Correct positioning of the carafe is a little tricky at first. Once you get used to it, however, it is not bad.The noise level is a little loud, but well below that of a blender, or a coffee grinder. The noise comes from lower frequencies, and is almost more of a rumble - noticeable but not really annoying.I bought this primarily due to concerns over PFAs in our drinking water. In theory, this filter reduces/eliminates them. If that is so, I consider it a worthwhile purchase. In reality, our town monitors PFAs and has the means to reduce them. Also in reality, most communities are experiencing, or will experience problems with PFAs. Also, in reality, we probably receive more exposure to PFAs in our homes via fire retardant chemicals applied to our furniture, and other fabrics, than we do from our water. Conclusion - buy this water pitcher because it might help, and probably won't hurt...UPDATE: I've been using this regularly for about 9 months. There are significant leakage problems. After 9 months of regular use - (mostly for drinking water for 2 people) my unit has developed a significant leaking problem. The lid over the filter chamber is sealed with an O ring which is no longer sealing sufficiently to prevent occasional water leakage while the pump is running. The water runs out from under the lid and gets inside the unit before leaking out onto the counter. As yet, I have not tried replacing the O ring, nor putting a little plumbers grease around this ring. Either might fix the problem.

best bang for buck for countertop water filter but has quirks
Pros: filters water fast, bluetooth logging, quality internal parts with coated electronics and strong retainer clamps for the hoses.Cons: Tends to leak during filter process, depends on overly warm water temperature to detect it needs to filter water, no control from app to see any information except the filter percentage left.Suggestions:1. Consider redesigning the center base plate to dissassemble in 2 parts instead of one so we can clean the sensor without removing the motor mounts.2. I have black aquasana and the base of the machine is painted silver or grey. well after a few months the paint scraped off and i see black under it. painted stuff that rubs off irks me knowing it could be flaking off somehow into my clean water.3. remove the mineral detection in order to filter, alot of times i have to add salt to my water, seems silly.4. raise the temperature requirement of water from whatever its set to to something lower like 34F. The machine wont filter unless it detects lots of minerals in the water and that the temperature is like 80F. Not good in cold environments.5: you need somehow to figure out how to make sure aftermarket filters you sell will for sure not leak between the lid of the machine and the seal of the new filter. Maybie try and add another additional o ring for a better seal.6. I want access to the computer on the machine from my app to be able to manually start or stop the process, resetting, and reading what the sensors on it detect.

Delighted with my Aquasana Clean Water Machine Purchase
So far the Aquasana Clean Water Machine is delivering daily fresh water in my kitchen. Time will tell but the month I have been using it, I have been pleased with the results and the taste.I should point out that the pitcher itself when full requires a strong hand and arm in removing from the fridge. Other wise, use your other hand to hold it steady while moving to the table or counter. One other small annoyance for some might be that after the machine has treated the water, keep the container docked for 5-10 minutes as a little extra water will drip on thorough from the filter into the pitcher. If you take the pitcher away too soon, then you have a tiny tablesp[ pool of water to wipe up off the machine cradle. No big deal. Just don't rush the pitcher to the fridge right after the machine has processed the water and the blue light goes off.The Aquasana is of solid construction/quality materials and does take up a fair amount of space on a counter yet looks great.I do like this machine! The photo shows the docking unit on my counter.

Best filter, perfect for our needs
I've had and used this filter for 6 months now. I love it! It's perfect for what we needed. We did however stop using the pitcher attachment, and got the dispenser part sepretly, because it works better for our needs. I feel like the dispenser would be good for most people, because I found constantly taking the pitcher on and off the base was cumbersome. The water tastes great, I know harmful things (like lead) are being filtered out, and it's so easy and convenient. The only downside would be that it's a little loud. The way we refill it is just filling a jug with water from the tap and pouring it in the docked dispenser. It's much easier than taking the dispenser over to the sink to refill. We use a lot of water daily, probably 2 gallons, so we've put it to the test. When looking for a water filter, we couldn't hook up an undersink model, being in an apartment, we can't do anything to the pipes. I was tired of the popular pour through pitchers because we'd need to refill them so often, and they didn't filter a wide variety of things, and would turn moldy. This solved all our problems. The filter itself won't get mold or bacteria because it's in a sealed environment that never hits air, so it's kept clean. And the water has continued to taste great, and I know what's being removed because they list the information with the product. Other filters just say general things like, "ordorous and particulates" without going into detail or providing more information. This filter states easily what standards it meets and what it removes. It's really one of the best purchases we've made for the kitchen.

WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. MACHINE DOES NOT WORK, TROUBLE SHOOTING DIRECTIONS AND CUSTOMER SERVICE DIRECTIONS DO NOT HELP.
Spent a frustrating hour trying unsuccessfully, to make it work. Have had another person familiar with water systems try to make it work, and another third person, without positive results. Was set up exactly as the instructions directed. Light does go on when plugged in without pitcher, and goes off and nothing happens even with water in pitcher and filter correctly installed. Have used the reset button and waited for the water to begin on the first run, and light does not come on again, nor does the motor work. Have repeated the action in different combinations, and still no luck. Replacement machine ordered and also required telephone customer assistance from Aquasana, but machine still does not work properly even with their polite telephoned directions. Could get it to work by adding salt and removing the filter. Still does not work filtering the water once filter is re-installed and reset button pushed. I will be returning machines for refund.
