Purchased 2 of these in November 2020. Doing review in January 2024. Pros: This will keep your head, neck and face warm. Wore it in 5 degrees F (-5 with windchill) and it kept me comfortably warm. Love that you can tighten it up around the face. Neck gaiter is long enough to tuck inside inner layer - no drafts. Washes well. I typically wear a visor under the Balaclava to protect my field of vision if I need to tighten it up around my face. The balaclava isn’t too bulky…I can still pull my jacket hood up over it. If I get too warm I can pull the balaclava hood down and just wear it as a neck gaiter.Cons: when I have the face covering pulled all the way up it causes my glasses to fog up. Speaking as a woman…I haven’t found a way to put this Balaclava on and then take it off again without absolutely destroying your hairstyle…however, I do not care about that at all as long as I am toasty warm.

I bought this at the end of the 2017 hunting season when I was getting pretty chilly in the blind. Trying to stay warm for 3-4 hours at a time when you are required to sit 'statue still' when hunting game, is far different than just putting on some layers to go play in the snow, snow shoeing, or what ever.In this situation, you do not have your activity warming you up. So in addition to the normal areas to insulate, you have to pay special attention to your major blood vessels. Meaning, your upper legs, wrists, ankles and neck. In 2017, my regular hat and neck gaiter were not cutting it. You have alot of time to think in a deer blind, so I started thinking up a better solution. Turns out, they make it, and this is it!I consider this a "hunting cowl" for lack of a better term. I have used it for the most part of the 2018 hunting season, and it was a cold one. It covers deep, down over my whole neck and some on my shoulders. Covers the back of my neck perfectly. I can sit still very long periods of time with this thing. It's THICK and very warm. It blocks the wind. It works in the hood configuration, the face mask configuration and the gaiter configuration. And it's silent to adjust.I also use this while sleeping at night when camping in the winter. Keeps my toasty. I honestly have no complaints about this item other than I wish it came in hunter orange. I'm buying a 2nd in case they stop making these and I lose mine. I sound like a shill, but I tell you, every day hunting this year, I thanked my stars for two things. This cowl, and my new jeep.

I live in eastern Maine where winters are pretty brutal. As a hardcore naturalist and wilderness lover, I spend a LOT of time outdoors, even in winter. For decades, I'd worn either scarves, mufflers or shemaghs around my neck along with a fleece cap and a hooded jacket. But I decided to try this product.I'm glad I bought it. It's MUCH warmer to me than a scarf, muffler or shemagh (those are cotton), and much more fitting around my neck. (We lose about 20% of our body heat through our head and neck, so the old adage "If your feet are cold, put on a hat" is true physiologically.)My only disappointment is that the hood fits a bit too snugly. I can get it on, even over my fleece hat. But it's not easy at all. It's not like a hoody that just flips up; I have to work with it.Admittedly, even though I'm a smaller man (5'9", 145ish), I have a larger than normal head. (Explains where my exceptional mind resides <joke>.) But normal sized hoods work well for me over my cap.Still, this is great around my neck draping down over the tops of my shoulders. So I'm glad I purchased it.If I get word that this company has introduced another model with a larger, roomier hood, I'll buy it.

Super nice face covering. Works very well and is super warm. Cheap but not made cheaply. And comes with no odor thank goodness. I washed it before I used it just to make sure no chemicals were on it. Worth the price ya pay and will keep you warm in zero degree weather like it has me.

Received the 2 that I ordered. They are warm but they are not as pictured. The collar doesn't drape as far down as the pic shows. I don't have a huge head but I can't wear mine with the hood part down as the back picture illustrates. They are smaller than they appear. Can't wear with ski googles with it.

I'll be getting another one of these soon, having purchased these for my adult kids.They arrived on the 2nd day of a snap of below-freezing weather here. They are soft and warm. The face covering is somewhat easy to pull up and down as needed (not as easy with mittens vs gloves).I very much liked it, so going to get one for myself now.

This is a really nice hooded neck gator. I love the blue/gray color and the shape of it compared to other similar items. It sits nicely with the hood on, or off and doesn't give you that old timey bank robber silhouette. It leaves plenty of room to breathe while keeping your face warm at the same time. This is definitely a great option!
