Diabetic Alert Dog Training Steps: Training Your Pet To Be Your Partner

This book is so helpful! I started this program with a 7-8 month old labrador using the first version but this one is even better! It goes over scent training, flying, night alerts, taking the dog to work/school, why the dog might be false alerting, and more. It’s easy to understand and do with your own dog. The second version asks for more repetitions during scent training which is a big difference from the first. My lab, (now 2 years old) is working towards being verified by MD Dogs. She loves to work and alert; I highly recommend this book for anyone who is training their own D.A.D. or who is interested in training one. It’s clear, fast, and works; even when you don’t start the dog from a puppy! After reading many dog training books, this is one of my favorites!

I have been training service dogs for 20 years and this book is spot on. I am so happy to finally find a great book to help people train their own service dog. Scent training for medical detection can produce a life saving dog. This book easily takes you step-by-step through the process. Even if you have never trained a dog before...this is a great way to help you train your own. So many families struggle with a diabetic child and this is just one more tool for them to use in helping keep their babies safe. I recommend this daily to so many fellow diabetics and dog trainers. The flow charts and illustrations enhance the simple easy to read instructions. Libby Rockaway really does rock it away in this edition of her dog training book. I give it 100 stars!!!
